How to go back to the neighborhood menu?

Alright, well I have a slight problem.
I bought The Sims 3 for Xbox 360 yesterday, and I made a family. I started playing and everything was great, until I decided I wanted to make another family without having to create another game. I can't find a way to switch from a family to the neighborhood. I tried going to the town map by pressing the select button, but the only thing it would let me do was switch locations.
Advice?
Help?

I don't have the console version of the game, but my guess is that you need to access edit town mode to switch families just like in the computer version.
