That would be great if we could turn off the celebrity opportunities.  I can't suppress opportunities right now because it's an Immortal Dynasty game and each Immortal has to do six unique opportunities.  If I suppress them, I won't be able to get the opportunities that I really need.

Does anyone else think that public humiliation isn't funny anymore? (From the title of this thread.)  I've got an Immortal Dynasty family with 8 Sims and I'm so tired of the public humiliation stuff.  It seems like someone is going to City Hall to sue for slander every day.  And my 8th generation Child keeps getting hit with it and he can't sue, so he just has to bear the negative moodlet for three days and loss of friends.  Then, just when it's about to be free of it, he gets hit with it again!  It's very hard on the little guy.

I think it's just a reality aspect, where we all have to deal with.
But I agree, dumping this kind of moodlets on kids is not that childfriendly indeed. If we would know who actually have started the gossip we could maybe find that sim and do something about it. By showing his or her thoughts about your sim isn't true.
But wait, our sim can gossip too, they even can gossip about other celebrities if they are one themself. Don't they start a public humiliation themself on another sim?

That would be cool, but all I've found about celebrity gossip is you find something out about a celebrity. I did it once and all I found out is that Gunther Goth has painting skill. Really? I already knew that thank you!  ;D Pam, can Forest deflect it onto another person? But I'm assuming if he can't sue, he probably couldn't deflect it either!  :(

How can you deflect actually? Never saw that option being part of one of my social actions.

Go to the office building. Doo Peas in SV, not sure what the name of it is in the other towns! Click on it and the offer to deflect should be there!

I didn't know about deflecting public humiliation.  I doubt he could, though, being just a child.  He also doesn't have the social interaction for Dispel Rumors.  Poor kid just has to suffer with the negative moodlet and loss of friends.  He even got hit with it in China, but at least he doesn't have to go to school and can just play around the house.

Doesn't have to school? Hmmm, I guess your sims are ritch right? You could compensate those negative moodlets with a lot of good once. Send him to the spa will help. Also (in China, Egypt or France) let him eat Ambrosia to give him the nice moodlet without getting any younger.
Compare those two and your sim will have a total moodlet of minimal +140 for the next 7 days. Very, very hard to make him unhappy now. ;)

Pam can't give him ambrosia because it is banned in the Immortal Dynasty challenge for young sims.  In my Clan Douglas Dynasty I used the moodlet manager to get rid of the negative moodlets, but still had to deal with the loss of friends.  I found it very frustrating that my sims kept losing so many friends (sometimes 5 at a time) even though I had spent 20,000 happiness points on the Long Distance Friend LTR for each of them.

I'm such a ding-a-ling because I keep forgetting about the Moodlet Manager!  I only think to use it about half the time.  ;D

I know. But I thought that rule exist because Ambrosia makes sims younger, which is against the rules. I came up with the eating of it in a foreign country in the hope that maybe the rules could get, you know, read over with a fresh eye or so and maybe considered a bit of changing?
I know I would if it could makes Pam's digital children's life a bit easier. ;) But I don't have the power. :P

I see your point, but there won't be any changes to the Immortal Dynasty rules for something like this.

I just wanted to say I was very amused by the use of the term "ding-a-ling".  I haven't seen that since the days when I read Archie comics.

I'm really sick of those stupid rumors too! Seriously, I've been trying to fulfill my sim's wish of having 20 friends for such a long time, and everytime I'm finally about to make it... paff! some nonsense about having peed himself or looked into someone's trash makes the poor sim lose like 4 friends at the same time! come on! Plus... what's wrong with having children without being married?! my sims can't even get married because the brilliant game won't let them... so how are they supposed to have babies anyway!?

I think EA should really consider the option of reducing the chances of becoming a celebrity, and the frequency of rumors. I do like celebrities, but what I don't like is having ANY sim in my game become one. And rumors were funny at the beginning, but having that moodlet like 90% of my time makes it really annoying.

The music it plays when you get a pop up about being Publicly Disgraced is creepy. Especially if it's 11 pm, the room is totally silent, and dark, and you were not expecting it in any way. I don't think I'll sleep very well tonight. :o
