I like Ken's "evil eye" look, too. Having to witness a death makes me less inclined to do the Public Enemy aspiration, but on the whole, the aspirations are easier.

Yeah... I'm kind of annoyed, I was slowly moving Nick away from being an ass (IMO no one can be that much of a jerk and have a loving family), and now he has to kill a Sim basically.  We'll see how it works out.

I'm loving your story, dethdukk! My hat is off to you for tackling the deviant aspirations in your dynasty! I'm planning to take a pass on those unless a spouse happens to arrive with one.  Also, I'm impressed at your taking such a difficult career for your founder! Not to mention that your house is incredible during your founder's youth! Can't get over Ken's lovely eyes, either.

Thank you!  I really do appreciate all the compliments from everyone, it's part of the reason I enjoy making this story.  I wasn't planning on doing any deviance aspirations, but its really rather fortunate I ended up doing them so early.  Or it would have been, now that the neighbor requirements are gone it doesn't matter.  Even so, it's been fun.

I got really lucky early on in the game, namely (and I know I sound like a broken record) with Ali.  She was pretty, which as shallow as it sounds is a requirement for me.  If I have to look at a Sim for hours they better be pretty.  She had fitness maxed, which was a huge benefit for Kell's Career requirements.  Lastly, and I don't know if I mentioned this before, she was the sole occupant of her household.  So when I moved her in I got a pretty good chunk of money to build that house.  I say that this was lucky because I actually had NO idea she was in a house.  I expected and hoped to get the 20k from a non-household sim, preferably without having to bring in any brothers/sisters/kids.  Instead, I got a single sim in a rather nice house.  Very lucky.

Chapter Fourteen - Making with the exercise.

Well Ken, 4 days into childhood you've completed your first aspiration.  I'm very impressed.
Ken:  Thanks Watcher.  It was pretty easy.
Well, now you have a choice.  You could try another aspiration, or you could start working on your video gaming skill.
Ken:  Why not both?  I can play Keyboard Commander and level up Motor and Video Gaming at the same time.
You...  you can?  I mean yeah, I totally knew that!  Good idea.

That's...  not...  Ken that's not possible.
Ken: What do you mean watcher?  I just felt like going for a run on the treadmill.
Alright.  Congratulations, you've broken the rules of the universe and you're not even a teen yet.  I see good things in your future.

Ken:  The right engine is out Captain!
Stow it Scotty, we've got bigger issues!

Ken:  You mean that out left engine is out as well?
Dang it Scotty, open your eyes!

Ken:  It's the asteroid headed straight for us!
Scotty, there's a space monster dead ahead!

Kell:  Arglblargleblaaaarg!
Ken:  Captain, I don't see anything but clear space ahead!
Ahhhh, stow it kid, I know when you're messing with me.

Kell:  So I have some news.  Now try not to get upset, I'm sure it'll all work out...

Kell:  We may have lost the Christmas presents on the way home.  I left them on top of the car and they all rolled off...  So we won't get any this year.  I'm sorry buddy.

Ken:  What?  But...  But...  But it's Christmas!

Kell:  I'm just messing with you!  Of course we have the presents!
Ken:  *phew*

Oh hey there Richard.  I don't see you in here often.
Richard:  Just practicing a bit.  Since I mastered painting I've been looking for something to do in my spare time, thought I might burn off some of the fat I've built up.

You planning to bulk up like Nick then?
Richard:  Oh, no way.  Nick's more than welcome to it, I just want to stay fit.

Richard:  Oh hey Dad!  You coming to work out?
Nick:  Me and him both.  Thought since you and Ken are both interested in exercising all of a sudden that we could keep you company.
Richard:  I'd be glad to have it, it's boring on your own.

It's nice to get the family together once in a while.  Too bad Vicky's working.

Alright tiny, one more time across and you'll have completed your second aspiration.

Ken, you're done with the aspiration you know.  Also, time for bed.
Ken:  Aw, can't I just play for a little longer?  It's only like 1AM.
Those are not the words I wish to hear.  Not to mention if you don't get inside soon the monsters will get you.

Ken:  Oh, alright...  WAIT WHAT?
Hehehe...  Get inside and go to sleep kid!

Happy birthday Vicky.  Sorry everyone is at work again...  it seems to be a pattern.
Vicky:  Actually, I've quite enjoyed my alone time.  It's nice to get some time to myself once in a while.
Then I'll leave you to your business.  Thank you Vicky.
Vicky:  For what, Watcher?
For helping Nick, and giving us Ken.

Post-Story Story

Hopefully everyone likes this one!  Sorry I'm a bit slow to post, multiple issues with the patch, aspirations, holidays, getting sick, etc have kind of reduced both my available time and my motivation to play recently.  I'm still looking forward to playing, it's just that I've been both sick and fighting with a glitch for the last 6 hours (real time) of game play that I've been able to put in.  I wanted to get a story post up though, and I thought this might do.

So that's 2 aspirations down for Kendrick!  Nothing special at this point, I didn't have to use any sleep pots or anything like that.  New aspirations = too easy.  I think I could grind out a third if I put some elbow grease into it, but he doesn't need it and I think he's earned a break.

Nick is almost done with both aspirations, I'm waiting on a ruling on a glitch that I ran into to finish, or at least plan how to finish, the second.  It's astoundingly annoying, and I'll post full details after I get past that point in the story.

I upgraded the house!  Each room now has +3 environment auras, each room has a dedicated emotion, and I also opened up the floor plan a lot. (thanks @Playalot !)  @Shewolf13 If you ever did take a look at it, I'd still be interested in hearing your ideas!

That's all I got for now.  Happy Holidays everyone!

I'm so sorry, deth!  I did look at the house plan, but I haven't had a chance to get on much of late.  The last few days have been crazy at work.  I haven't had much of a desire to play.  Mostly come home and stare off into space XD I have work tomorrow and possibly Wednesday, but I will try my best to take a look at it as well, if you still wish any suggestions.

No worries didn't mean to nag or guilt, sorry.  Just meant that even though I have modified the house I'd still enjoy seeing any ideas you have.  Don't worry about it unless you want to though, I can definitely understand being too busy.

Oh poor kid.... christmas presents have rolled away, lol. Like that Ken stretched himself a little there to reach for some higher goals, like running on the treadmill.  ;) Trinity did that but on the weights! Obviously another 'thing' The Patch had introduced.
Really funny update as usual.

I haven't had as much time to play since the patch came out as I would like, but I'm almost kind of glad the child aspirations are a bit easier. I'm not struggling to get at least one done and maintain an 'A' like I was and the kids sort of have time to just be kids.

On the other hand, of course, I can definitely see your point about it being a little bit too easy. Aspiration complete in 4 days? I don't know if that's impressive or just kind of sad TBH.

Such great updates dethdukk. I forgot to mention ages ago how much I loved your reference to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. So pleased to see Vicky and Nick getting along so well and I can see you developing Ken's personality beautifully! Glad I'm finally all caught up.  ;D

On the other hand, of course, I can definitely see your point about it being a little bit too easy. Aspiration complete in 4 days? I don't know if that's impressive or just kind of sad TBH.

A bit of both.  Ken grew up mid-day Thursday, and had Friday off (not sure why...) so I had a TON of free time with him right at the start.  Admittedly, the aspiration I did was Whiz-Kid, which IMO didn't change too much.  And you still need level 10 mental, so there's still a fair bit of grind.  All in all I think I would have had the aspiration done in 5-6 days anyways, the changes just made it a bit easier.  I generally shoot for 2 aspirations per child anyways just for a challenge, the changes just made it easier to hit 2 aspirations.

Ken finished his second aspiration with 4 days left before he aged up.  I could probably finish the creative aspiration or the social one, but I'm not worried about it.  And besides, sometimes its fun to just let the Sims do their own thing, it lets me see what kind of personality they have.  On that note, I do think it's now possible (maybe even easy, I'd have to try it) to do all 4 child aspirations if you use some sleep replacement pots.

@Playalot - Indeed, it would appear that The Patch caused it.  The weird thing is, running on the treadmill wasn't even in his actions list, it just said he was talking to Nick (which he was).  When I cancelled the conversation, he stopped.

@KTK - Thank you!  I love it when people pick up on my Geeky jokes, heh.  Everyone has their couple that they get.  I get them all, but I'm the one writing them so I suppose I better.  The weird thing is, I always think of that quote as being from "Flubber" with Robin Williams.  I think I'm either confused, or they used it in Flubber as a quote from Willy Wonka.  I'd have to watch the movie again to see.

Hey all!  Sorry for the extended lack of updates, getting sick + holidays + new games + family stuff + ect ect ect...  yeah.  Add onto that a couple glitches and a crash that lost me 5 hours of work, and you come out with what amounts to about 3 weeks of no game play.  But, we're back!  So yeah, enjoy.

Chapter Fifteen

Well hey there Ken!  What are you... um... down to?
Ken:  Hey Watcher!  I'm watching the sunrise, want to join me?

Mm.  Looks nice.  You've got the right idea on how to start a day kid.
Ken:  Speaking of starting, I need to get to school.

Vicky:  Well looks like it's your turn dear.  Looking forward to being middle-aged?
Nick:  I suppose I better be, there's no turning back now.  Speaking of birthdays, how was Shayla's?

Vicky:  Oh, it was just me and her really.  She's always been a bit of a loner, like me.
Nick:  Why don't you invite her over?  I'm sure Richard's looking forward to seeing her.  Besides, it's time to get started.

Richard:  Since when can you dance?
Nick: Didn't you hear?  It's part of Evil Mastermind 101.  You have to drive a sleek car, look the part, and know how to dance.

Ken:  Dad looked up a bunch of videos on it last week and he's been dancing in his office all day instead of working.
Richard:  Hah!  Is that true Nicolas?
Nick:  I would never do that, and you have no proof.
Ken:  Actually, mom totally hacked into your video cameras.  She said she saved all the videos to "The Cloud" so the whole world could enjoy it.
Richard:  Oh my god, I have to see th... is that Shayla?  I'll be uh...  I'll...  have fun guys.

There you are.  You guys know there's a party going on outside right?
Richard:  We'll join the others for dinner.  Shayla was feeling a little tense around everyone, so we decided to come in here for a while.

And that's the birthday party all wrapped up.  Well done Nick, another step closer to immortality.

Oh hey Ali!  Glad you made it.
Ali:  Good to see you Watcher.
Shayla:  Hey Watcher?  Sorry to be a bother, but... too much social activity for me today.  Is there something else I can do?
Hm...  Why don't you go play with Ken?  He's kind of in the same boat, I think you'll get along great.

Feeling better?
Shayla:  Much!  This dollhouse is amazing by the way, where did you guys find it?
Oh, at...   actually I have no idea where that came from.  Maybe you can ask Vicky, I feel like she's the one that picked it out.  One of the Christmas gifts anyways.

Looks like you all are getting along alright.  Kind of amusing that all the loners decided to get together and chat.
Vicky:  Just because we don't enjoy being social all the time doesn't mean we don't like spending time with friends.  Just not too much time is all.

When you finish that homework go straight to bed, it's like 2 AM already.  Man your fathers work schedule sucks.
Ken:  *Yawn* No arguments here Watcher.

Congratulations guys!
Richard:  Thanks Watcher.  We're looking forward to a kid of our own soon.
Oh, is Shayla pregnant already?
Shayla:  No, but we'll be trying in the future.
I look forward to meeting the new nooboo.  On another note...  Feel like changing up your clothes and hair?  It's a little weird how much you look like Vicky.
Shayla:  Oh, that sounds fun!  Like dress-up!  I want longer hair though.

Third serving, right?
Kell:  Seems about right.  Seems like I needed this one a lot faster.
Hm, I haven't really been keeping track, but it does seem like you had less time this time around.  Maybe I'll keep an eye on it from now on.

The Knethen Family bids you adieu.  Until next time, safe travels and godspeed to you all.

Post-Story Story

Man it's been a while since I made a chapter.  It's nice getting back into the swing of it, but it also feels like I'm missing something.  I had a lot of trouble lining up the story to the pictures this time, or just making enough story in general.  Maybe it's just because of how long its been.

So Shayla finally has a new look!  I had to do it, I kept thinking that she was Vicky.  I like Shayla's personality.  I've been letting her do her own thing for the most part, and she's definitely a tea lover.  No one else in my Dynasty even looks at that thing, and she's using it pretty much every 4 hours.  She gets along with Ken really well too, which is good.

I want to apologize again for how long of a break I took...  Life has been pretty hectic, and I've been wrestling with a couple glitches.  Then, right when I finally had time and enough interest to play, I got about 5 hours in and my game crashed and wiped out a good days work.  While not a *HUGE* blow, it was enough to kill my interest in the game another week.  Well, the good news I suppose is that the new patch came out in the interim and might have fixed some of those glitches.

What else...  The make toast requirement almost lost me the gold on the party.  I'd forgotten how to do it yet again, so I had to stop the whole game while I looked it up.  By the time I got the requirement I was close to running out of time...  but that seems to happen on a lot of my parties.  But still, done is done and I'm happy.

Nick's doing pretty well for requirements in general.  He's got his 2 Aspirations done, he's at level 8 of his career (and having issues advancing, so hopefully that will resolve itself eventually...), He has 2 of his 3 skills maxed, and 3 of his 5 parties.  He needs 3 more trait rewards but he's sitting on 14k points, so really I just need to decide which ones to buy.  I'm waiting till he hits Elder for the 6 friends, and I haven't started on the museum pieces yet.  The whims I've had done for a while now, that ones pretty easy.

Can't think of anything else, so that wraps this up neatly.  Hope to have another chapter out soon!

Welcome Shayla to the family and I think it was great changing her look. Do you have three loners now? Wow.. that must be difficult.. Chapter Sixteen

Um...  Nick?  Why are you destroying the dollhouse?

Nick:  Because I'm angry, and it's fun.  You want a piece of this, house?!?

Nick:  Yeah!  Take that house!  Go on, get repaired I DARE YOU.
Um... yeah on that note, fix the house you strange, strange man.

Nick:  Killjoy.  I was just having some fun.  *pouty lip*
And now you get to fix what you broke while doing so, it's a good life lesson.  And hurry up, it's Kens birthday.

Shayla:  *out of tune singing* Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuu!

Richard:  I love you sweetie, but you can't sing worth beans.
Shayla:  *purposefully bad singing*  Happy birthday screw youuuuu dear!
Ken:  *Rolls eyes*

Happy birthday Ken!
Ken:  Thanks Watcher!  But... I feel sad. And I want to be alone...
Oh, Gloomy and a Loner eh?  Well...  there's good news and bad news.  Which do you want first?
Ken:  Um...  the bad news?
The bad news is that the depression you're feeling is going to be a recurring thing through your entire life.  The good news is, I've been there and I know how to deal with it.
Ken:  How?
Keep yourself busy, do things that you enjoy.  Learn to recognize the feeling, and when it does occur try not to let it affect the way you think.  Harder than it sounds, but you'll learn.  On that note, now's a great time to start learning how.  First things first, you're headed out.
Ken:  Out?  Watcher, I just want to stay at home and be alone.
Too bad, you're heading out anyways.  You can be alone later, I promise.  And go fix your hair!

Oh dear...  Sigh.  Sorry gals, I'll have Nick fix it again.  Sneaky bugger.

Feeling any better?
Ken:  Surprisingly, yes.  Not enjoying being around all these strangers, but I'm still feeling much better.
A good bit of exercise will make most anyone feel better.  On that note, it won't always work but it's a good place to start.

Ken:  Whoaaaaaaagh!
Ouch...  Well you'll still feel better after you recover.  Hm...  Hang on, I think I see an old acquaintance on a punching bag.

Ah, it is you.  How have you been you bag of bones?
Grim:  Oh, ha ha, you're hilarious.  Never heard that one before.  *Mutter Grumble*
You alright?  You're distant at the best of times, but usually you aren't so...  touchy.
Grim:  *sigh*  I guess I am.  My jobs a little wearing at times.  I had to reap an old friend a couple days ago, I came here hoping to get out of the funk I've been in.
Small world.  Why don't you come over and meet the youngest member of the Knethen family?  If I remember correctly he wasn't born yet when you ah...  visited.

Ken:  Oh, that's just great Watcher.  I'm feeling depressed, so why don't you just go ahead and introduce me to death?  Thanks a lot for that.
Grim:  Hey, I just...  I was just hoping to chat with someone.  Didn't mean to upset you.
Ken:  Don't talk to me.

Grim:  You see?  No one understands me, no one understands how hard it is to do my job!  Everyone just assumes I must be a cold-hearted ** just because my job involves reaping!  *bursts out in tears*
Oh great.  Good job Kendrick.  I was introducing you to Grim because he's having a hard time right now, just like you.  And you, you insensitive jerk, just grabbed onto your own depression and first impressions and ran with it.  What did I say about not letting it affect how you think?
Ken:  Oh jees, I'm sorry.  Watcher's right, I shouldn't be so judgmental when I don't even know you yet.

Ken:  Here, c'mere.  *Hug*  I'm really sorry that I was so quick to jump to conclusions.  What say we head to the park and chat for a while?  You look you could use a friend, and I know I could.
Grim:  Yeah... yeah that sounds good.  Thanks.

Grim:  Well it's been a lot of fun chatting, but I've got to go.  Got work to do.
Ken:  Don't let it get you down.  I'd ask if I'll see you around, but truthfully I'd rather not find out just yet.
Grim:  Not any time soon anyways, or at least not in the way you're worried about.  Catch you later kid.

What are you up to now?
Ken:  Well there's some cute girls outside, and I just thought...  um...  *cough*...
Hm.  Well if you keep tripping over yourself like that they'll either think you're adorable or a geek.

Well both of those introductions went spectacular.  Looks like you're a natural.
Ken:  Thanks, I think.  Where to next?
Well I did promise you some alone time tonight, right?  So it looks like we're headed to the library.
Ken:  At 10PM?
If you can find one open at that time, it's the best time to go.  Either it'll be empty and you can enjoy yourself, or you meet other people who think the same way.

Thanks!  And yeah, totally had to just go do something else for a while.  Minecraft in particular, heh.  I actually don't have 3 loners... I did, but then when the game crashed it reset Shayla back to before she rolled her Young Adult trait.  A little disappointing, I actually like the Loner trait especially on sims who will be doing a lot of fishing.

@Nettlejuice - Well see about the Nooboo.  I totally forgot that I don't have the household space for another nooboo right now, or at least not if I want to have Ken marry and have a kid straight away.  Even so, I definitely agree with you and kind of want to see what their daughter (making an educated guess here) would look like.

@Playalot - Thanks play!
