Dancing On...
« on: October 27, 2010, 11:24:22 AM »
I've noticed NPC's dancing on tables and bars at the dive bars, but none of my Sims have had the option to do it. Has anyone gotten their Sim up on the tables to dance? It looks like fun. :)

Yeah, sometimes clicking on a table or counter will give you the option to "dance on.." .  But not always.  I'm not sure what the limitations of it are.  Sometimes it'll say something like "Counter entrance blocked" so you can't.

I've also seen my Sims do it on their own!

Had you sims been drinking at all before they had the option to dance on the table? That's the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet.

I honestly can't remember for sure.  The one Sim I saw do it always seems to order a drink immediately upon arriving in a bar, but I don't know if it's a requirement.  Oh, he also has the "Innapropriate" trait.  Maybe that affects it?

More experimentation required! :)

Btw, did anyone else discover the trick you can play when someone goes skinny dipping? ;)

No I was the only one in the "Elite bar" and I saw the option to skinny dip, but there was no one to skinny dip with. I can only imagine what happens.

My two sims have the party animal trait and they love dancing on the table.  It is a scream, I make them dance until the bar closes.  They "club" dance at home too and they threw in a Michael Jackson move and I thought I would fall off my chair, what a hoot.

For anyone that does not have the game, here is a short video of my little sim dancing her heart out and this is not all of the moves.  Too bad you can't dance on the table at home, lol.  After I stopped the video, she threw a couple of more moves in there.  You have to click on the picture. :D

Actually you can dance on surfaces in your own home!  The trick is, it has to be the RIGHT surface.  I don't think dining room tables work, but kitchen counters do.  :)  See attached screenshot..

Really had not tried the counter at home.  I think it is a scream to watch them dance on tables or counters, mine do it on their own even when they go out to the bars.  Thanks.

Sweet moves, saltypaws.  Really sweet.

On another note, has anyone figured out how to do the "slow dance" interaction?

I think that was a rumor, because I have not gotten that interaction at all.  That was what all that talk was about on the sims3 forum, that some guy was pretending to be at that big convention and he was answering all sorts of questions and misleading so many people and that was one of the things that he said, there was slow dancing and I think they confirmed there was not, darn.  I was looking forward to that, but I am happy with all of the other moves in the game. ;D

I think Sims with party animal trait will always have the option to dance on counters. If you dont have the trait, you can order one of party drinks at the bar that will give you party animal trait for a short time.

For a slow dance, make sure your Sims are in a room with music playing. The dance interaction will appear.

Party Animals can dance on counters only when they're at a party or a club, but they don't need drinks to do it. Other sims need to drink first and be at a party or a club.
