I agree with the M key.  I am a touch typist and should not make so many mistakes but I do hit that M key more than I should.

As for sims annoying me, well most of the time I laugh or just shake my head.  When they really start to irritate me I know it is time to close down my game for that session.  I actually find less annoyances this time around than in Sims 2 or Sims 3 so I applaud EA for quality of play changes this time around.

Probably the things that bug me most are the things you have to do for achievements and the sims just will not keep doing them.  For instance, 'listen to music for x hours'.  My sims will dance till the cows come home but get them to concentrate on music and they will sneak away whenever my back is turned.

Recently my sims have been drawn to any playing stereo as though their lives depend on it. Really? Argghh, come on guys!  >:( Don't make me have to sell them all.

I understand this. I had to get rid of the stereos in my sims house to keep them from dancing all the time. I keep one in family inventory for when they get a whim to listen to the radio. Then I'll take it out and let them complete the whim and put it back into storage.

lol, for some reason this really cracks me up! It's like you've become this Great Benevolent Whim Granting Watcher! When in actual fact by taking away their beloved stereo you're just a big meanie!  :P  ;)

One thing that bugs me: if i have two sims going to the fridge, one of them will ALWAYS cancel their action if they get within a room of the fridge and the other sim is still around it. It doesn't matter if the other sim is almost done, or already leaving. This is really frustrating in larger families where multiple sims need to eat at once, to the point where i've started purchasing two fridges for larger households.

Also, if a bathroom is connected to multiple rooms, sims will use it like a hallway, even if it's already occupied. Yay needless embarrassment moodlets!

I have noticed the fridge thing, too. Most annoying in the mornings when I'm trying to get all my sims fed and ready for work and school, and have to keep an eye on them, because even though they are really hungry, it cancels and they go do something pointless.

My way to deal with that sort of thing is to not use a normal bathroom layout. I break it up into several smaller sub-rooms. One main room with the sink and mirror, one smaller room with the toilet, and one with the Shower/Tub. People can come and go as much as they like in the main room, and it minimizes the embarrassment. For the central area of the house, I will even have 4 or 5 toilet rooms and 2 or 3 shower rooms off the one sink room.

Anyway, what truly annoys me is when I notice that a Sim has just finished the tasks I had set them to and they have self selected something new on the other end of the house but I want them to instead do something that is close at hand... Even if I pause, cancel their choice, direct them elsewhere, and unpause they invariably walk to the other end of the house as if they are going to do whatever they had chosen before turning around and heading back to what I told them to do.

@Zyffyr: That sounds like a rather good idea. I might have to try it out.

And I know how you feel; it happens to my sims all the time, and often in rather big houses. The worst is when they start the action and it takes them forever to stop when you cancel it, if they stop at all. I have a dastardly (from the deviance aspiration) sim and an evil sim in my legacy family right now, and if you leave them alone for a second they'll immediately go and destroy the dollhouse. Even if I cancel it, they'll just finish the action; I just have to watch them destroy it.

I have made most of my bathrooms into two or three sections, usually with the main part with a sink and mirror, and then rooms off that with the shower/bath and a toilet room. I got sick of my sims forever following a sim to the bathroom (usually with a plate of food, too) to try and chat while they did their business. They do still wander into the bathroom sometimes, but there's no embarrassment as the toileting or showering sim is in another section.
I had a sim end up mortified because she was in the bath tub, another sim walked in and sat on the toilet, and then the sim in the bath peed in it. I quickly modified their bathroom to a multi-room one.

@Officialghosts - if you go into build/buy mode you can put the dollhouse (or whatever tiresome object your sim wants to interact with) into the family inventory. That way when you go back into live mode they will just have a little foot-stampy tantrum, and you don't lose the dollhouse.

I too, find the rediculous delay after cancelling an action very annoying.

A few things:

1. Sims won't pick up their plates and wash them in the sink. (unless I missed a neat trait)

2. Sims will just walk in on each other in the bathroom, it's ok as couples, not as room mates.

3. Sims will drop a task if another Sim wants to "chat" and usually not go back to the task.

4. Sims just pick random beds to sleep in. They had assigned beds in TS3.

5. Sims won't put away books, they just lay them down on tables.

They keep having twin girls. Both times a Sim has gotten pregnant, I've done nothing special, and they have twin girls. I'm not ready for this many people! There aren't enough careers to go around!

I wish I could have twin girls! Or any girls! My game, which I play multiple households, still seems to be favouring boys over girls.  I wonder if there is a genetic link there? My original sim had two boys, then I decided to try for a girl and got one. Her son has just had his second boy, and her other son had a boy, and his wife is currently pregnant, so I hope it's not another boy. Other households have had boys, too.

.....Go and do something to get out of their emotion that they need to be for work about 5 seconds before it starts! Very annoying when you want a promotion.  >:(
