No skill books at the library except for children.  It is a worse library than Twinbrook's even if it is bigger and cooler looking.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

@ lucid: the fact your graphic card may not be recommended really doesn't have to mean your laptop isn't capable of handling the game. My laptop s from 2008, originally pursiged for Spore, but is capable of running The Sims (mostly bugless). You may try to defrag your system as well and all that stuff. Pam has written a grat guideline on how to clean up your system before installing anything. I'm sure she or someone else will post a link here to it for you, as I am not capable of doing that myself, on a mobile phone.

The instructions for cleaning up your computer are here.

I know this is not really a technical problem, but I was working on a Immortal Dynasty in Bridgeport... and there are no legacy-worthy empty lots! The only empty lots in the town are far too small to be Legacy-legal(there are only two, both less than 50x50); I had to bulldoze a venue to get the required size empty lot. Forget about doing legacies in Bridgeport, they expect you to live in the apartments. :p

Just warning you ahead of time, folks!

This is not a cause for alarm.  Metro will update the Immortal Dynasty Challenge with instructions on how to play it in Bridgeport.  Until then, don't start one there if you want to be in the Hall of Fame.

 :'(

I just started playing Late Night, and I tried to put the new community lots into my sunset valley game. But it doesn't work! I click to place a copy, and nothing appears at the mouse, nothing on the map at all! It works fine for the new highrise apartments, but not for the bars, etc. I am quite upset - I was really looking forward to playing LN with sunset valley. I don't want to play bridgeport.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix it? Or experiencing the same problem?

I don't know what's wrong but for some reason I can't see any animations for the disco ball lights or the fog machines? And even if my sims "woohoo" in a hot tub they just sink to the bottom and they just lay there and randomly stick their foot out of the water. I thought the water got foamy and hearts would spring out from it but this doesn't happen for me. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I believe those are "particle effects" and it sounds like they're turned off in your game.  You can check by going to the Options menu and then the Graphics tab.  Then check the Visual Effects slider.

You were exactly right! I just changed up to medium and it's all good. Thank you for your help!

My sims mixoligy skill is broken, it stopped at two and a half. No matter how much she practices or reads skill books it won't change.

Actually all of her skills are broken, she has level 10 in all the old ones, but can't gain any new ones, help. :(

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the expansion or me at this point.  I have gotten two different tasks to do with a place called the "Corsican Bistro"  delivering produce and testing the food for my agent.  Neither time did it offer to show the location, but I cannot see it in town anywhere.

Is this a hidden location, like the bar under the graveyard, or a possible bug?  I know its not the main bistro downtown because my female sim works there.

Has anyone found it or gotten similar tasks with the place?

edit:  I should mention this is Bridgeport, didn't want to assume :)

I've got exactly the same problem Wevee. Anyone else run into this?

Edit: I just got an opportunity to view the gallery at the office. Only problem is, I don't have an office, and am now wondering a) what else is missing and b) how to add the missing community lots in.

2nd edit: Then I saw this thread. http://www.carls-sims-3-forum.com/index.php/topic,2315.0.html Thanks Pam.

This one is more funny than annoying. My Sim passed out in the bathroom due to exhaustion, then disappeared. I found him in the lobby.

Definitely some odd happenings.

Late Night is driving me bonkers. Well and truly bonkers, I tell you!

Before I continue, let me assure that everything in on my computer is up to date. In fact, I had to install a new DVD RW drive just to run the game (the old one wasn't working properly) and while I was at it, got a new (recommended) graphics card. I have more than enough RAM to run everything on my computer and my processor speed is... Well, I don't know it but this computer was literally built for The Sims 3. Before I did anything with the DVD drive, I first defragged the computer, ran a virus scan and repaired all problems. My computer isn't the issue here. There is something wrong with LN, in my opinion.

The game is lagging. Regardless of the speed settings, it is choppy. Turbo speed is no faster than the base speed. I feel as though I have been thrust into the pre-patch base game again, and I am frustrated. I've already had to scrap two legacies because the game is just unplayable this way.

I've tried going into edit town mode before starting up a family, but I am not seeing any gray lots. I can't find 1st Ave at all, let alone the specific lot that I am supposed to delete. I am about to try it out having moved the fire station.

Towns other than Bridgeport aren't spawning vamps or celebs, so I want to get started in Bridgeport and then move the family later on. Of course there aren't any appropriately sized lots, but there's not really anything I can do about that. Twinbrook is the same way.

Does anybody have an image on which they can show me where 34 1st Ave is?

I have noticed when I go into previous households, before LN, if the household or someone is in the household is suppose to be at work or school, they are not and you have to click on the "go to work" button. They will go back to work and it is fine.  That has happened in two of my old towns.  Not really a big problem, just a minor thing, just weird.  Also, on a previous game where my sim is in remodeling homes, she went to three jobs and they were all bad and they told her she did a terrible job.  She is level 9 and when I played her before, she always did a "good job" at least.  I had her quit and will have her take something else up. Minor bugs, but a lot of minor bugs can be annoying, to say the least. :)

There is an option in edit town to create new empty lots. Most of the downtown buildings are 30x30 or 40x40. You can select an open area in any town and zone them the correct size. Then you can have high rise buildings in non downtown worlds. Also useful if you have an old world that is too full, and need to add additional houses.

I just hope that EA lets us edit apartment buildings someday. Just because I want my sim to live in a high-rise doesn't mean I want her in an efficiency her whole life.

Try these three phrases: testingcheatsenabled on, buydebug on, and restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off.

I had this problem occasionally even before NL.  What I found I had to do was bulldoze the empty lot. After the dozer I would change the lot to the required lot type. Then I could place what I wanted to.   Sometimes I even have the empty house icon, instead of a diamond shape indicating a lot,  above an empty lot and I have to doze it before it will let me build a house.
