The Room Challenge - Completed

On the Sims 4 forums, there's a keen little challenge.  Put a Sim in an 8x8 room and remove all external doors.  The Sim cannot leave and cannot interact with any other sim until they complete the Mansion Baron Achievement.

You can pick any lot and build as much as you want, but your Sim is stuck in their little 8x8 room until it's all over.  And to make it a bit more difficult, your Sim can not be a loner, and you can't pick the Independent Reward or Moodlet Solver.  You have to keep that Social skill up!

As there's not much story, I'll post pics as my Sim progresses through the weeks of solitude.  She is a Geeky, Neat, Bookworm and her starting aspiration is Writing.  I've decided to leave a little outdoors area for the gardening stage of my challenge, instead of an indoors garden.



Shoves my Simself into the box and deleted the gate behind her... time to get to work!

Hmm, no loner, independent reward, or moodlet solver? There's going to be a lot of sad book/painting.  .
I suppose they could go chat in the computer or something. I think it's going to be fun!

The first week went by played almost entirely on fast speed, because my simself, Miss Trips did nothing but write and take care of needs.  But it was very productive!

So, simself, how was that first week?



"Nobody knows the trouble I've seen... nobody knows my sorrow..."

Uh... Simself, that's a comedy microphone, not a singing one...

"I don't even own a stove, what's there to laugh about?"

Right... well, there's a nice chunk of money in the account, I can do a little upgrading...



"A stove!  And a table so I can sit and eat like a normal sim!  How wonderful!  Wait... what's that easel doing there?"

Soon Simself, very soon!


So, layout wise, I forwent any interior doors or arches, since they take up valuable floor footprint space.  The outdoor trashcan handles all the debris from repaired items, both the computer and the toilet broke in the first week.

There are three valid ways to raise your social skill with no one else, chatting/trolling on the computer, talking to plants and telling jokes using a microphone.  I decided to use a microphone since that raises the comedy skill and the social gain is faster than using a computer, and the less time I spend taking care of needs, the more books my simself can churn out!  I'm pretty much at the stage where I just need to finish off the last bestsellers and wait for my book income to register, then on to the painting aspiration!

It makes sense not to have doors or arches, especially since she's there on her own and who will care if she's using the bathroom

Hello, fellow Sims fans!  It's been a productive two weeks with my Simself in the room challenge.

"So, Watcherself?"

Yes?

"I seem to have noticed a slight change in the bathroom."

Go on... but keep viewing those paintings.

"There's no toilet anymore, and the shower is missing."

Ah, well, that would be the Steel Bladder Reward and I decided the jacuzzi tub was a great upgrade.  *I* want a jacuzzi tub, I figured you would too!"

"Hm.. you know this means no shower buffs anymore, right?"

Uhh... yes?  Ahem, well, I... meant to do that!  You can get buffs from the computer doing research anyways!




And you know what Simself, I'm going to upgrade even more!  Look at this!  Level one Mansion Baron complete!  What do you think of *this*?



"Huh, okay... I do like the bed.  That's a nice bed."

You are so hard to please.  Alright Simself you keep on painting and I'll have a nice surprise for you.



"A birthday cake?  Just driving home the fact that I've spent this much of my life trapped in a box?"

Grrrr.  Iwas trying to be  nice!

"You just wanted to make sure I had a buff for having a cake."

Just blow out the candles and make a wish already!

"Fine.  I wish for   *mumble mumble*"



What was that?  What did you say?

"My wish Watcherself.  Go back to managing things."

I... okay.  Fine, just fine, I'll give you a boost to getting out of the box.  Mansion Baron Level 2!  We have just enough money!  Landscaping ahoy!







And to boost the value of the place fast, it's uber expensive violins!




There!  What do you think of that, Simself?  We have a thousand simoleans left over!

"Huh, it's really nice.  Really nice.  But I think you forgot something Watcherself."  *Evil grin*

No I didn't, see, level 2 completed, we're good.

"But what *day* is it Watcherself?"

Sunday?

"Yes... yes it is.  I think my wish came true.  Excuse me, I need to have a long string of jokes at your expense."



What are you on about?  Everything is fine!



The next morning.....



"Hello?  Hello, I have these bills for a Miss Trips?"



AAAAAHHHH!  Simself!  Simself the *billls*!  Painting!  Get to painting before they shut off the power and we lose points!

"Best.  Birthday present.  Ever."

For such a small lot you did great work, love the landscaping. Oh, the bills

Bills are evil, yes.  The frugal trait was the very next thing I got for my Simself!

Week Four is over with some real progress going on.  The really large bill that arrived on Monday was thankfully not so disastrous because of the writer's royalties coming in with a nice 5k simolean payout.  I had intended to stop writing, but I figured doing one screenplay a day (my highest payout genre) would ensure that no matter what else I was working on, I'd still get a nice chunk of money every day.

So, onto the score.

All that birthday cake you ate over the last few days has uh...

"Has WHAT?"  *glare*  "And can I remind you Watcherself on *who* makes the meal decisions here?"




Well, how about some nice salads for a while?



"Salads, huh?  We don't like salads much."

Think of it as a nice segue.  Because we've got a whole new aspiration to do!

"I don't *like* gardening either!  That's why you live in an apartment, no lawn!"

Well, you're gardening now, so get to planting.  We need 20 harvestable plants."




"Watcherself."

Yes?

"What.  Is.  That?"

The woodworking bench?  I know we don't use it that much, but I though you recognized it.

"Grrrr....  YOu know what I'm talking about.  You don't exercise, why is that here?"

*sunny smile*  "Because Simself, I can't feel your pain.  Get to jogging!



"I will have my Revenge!"

Not until the Pets EP, Simself, not until Pets.

(author's note, one of my cats is named Revenge.  It's very fitting!)
