Your right, fishing and gardening are about the same.  At night, it might go a little faster.  I tried both of those not too long ago and didn't notice much difference.  Have you ever had a teen or youth do inventing, they are really fast at that.  Some skills seem to faster than others, I have noticed. :)

I think the bugged skill rate is bugged when it comes to books. (A bugged bug. Wow.) Basically, when they learn it from a book, it's the usual rate. But hands-on, it's super fast. So logically, I wasted about $2000 sending Katie (from Antonio and the Vampire) to Egypt to learn cooking before she aged to YA. And then her half-sister's mother died. Speaking of which...

Is this a bug? Lola Belle became a vamp, and died of thirst. Do vampires autonomously go for Plasma Juice?
If it makes a difference, she was in probably the worst possible mood at the time. And in Egypt.

Most Vamp Sims will not automatically go for food on your lot, I leave out lots of plasma fruit to help cut down on thirst build up, they usually go for those, but I have pics of vamps dying of thirst 2 feet from a fruit, so it's not 100% reliable.  Some Vamps will raid your fridge for plasma juice, but not many, I think it may be moochers who do that, not sure there though.

I should've mentioned: Lola Belle was in my family at the time.

I've had vampires die of thirst because they didn't go for the fruit automatically. Usually if you put plasma fruit or plasma juice in their inventory the go for it once they get the "hungry" moodlet (the one with no mood effect). I haven't had a vampire sim who went to the fridge automatically except for vampires that come and visit. They always leave the juice boxes on the floor! >:(

I had a vampire die on my lot because she didn't go for food. When I have vamp families I try to keep one or two normal sims in them so they have a ready supply of food.

I've only recently started playing vampire families and haven't had a chance to mess around with kids yet. Does anyone know if children adopted by vampire families will come out vampire or normal?

Vampire Children are the results of Vampire Pregnancy's, I don't think an adoption would make a Vampire Baby.

I have never had a vampire sim that was a member of the active family die because they didn't eat autonomously.  Mine always seem to make for the fridge or grab a fruit out of their inventory when they're thirsty.  However, I have seen vampire sims that I wasn't in control of die of thirst for this very reason.  I have a vampire in Sunset Valley who was turned by Nick Alto (he always seems to become a vampire in my games), and after she vamped out he invited her to a party.  Grimmy wasn't exactly on the guest list, but he crashed the party anyways as Nick died a rather ghastly and somewhat undignified death as a result of thirst.

Talk about a party-pooper.  :P

The only way I can think of that you might get a vampire baby through adoption is after its been a while and story progression might have made some.  Maybe the new wish-master challenge will have people get some.

I believe there is a way.
If you have a vampire child taken away by social services, isn't the next child that you adopt, that fits the description, that child?

I'll test the vampire adoptions with April (my vampire lass) tonight, and let you know tomorrow.

I have played numerous games (to have my sim see which local would be compatible) and each time Vladimir Schlick is always standing near her with her face in a bubble over his head. So I decided in one game to have her ask him to move in and his first wish is to be her boyfriend. They have incompatible zodiac signs and totally different traits. Guess opposites attrack, because they married and have a child.

But, they say that vampire children eat normal food. However, I had mine drinking plasma juice because I thought that's what they were supposed to eat. It seemed to satisfy his hunger, so I had him go to the store to buy plasma fruit to keep with them. Has anyone else had vampire children drink plasma juice?

They seem to be able to eat/drink both, it's only when they reach YA they have to drink plasma, I think.

Oh my!  My first experience with a vampire was when my Sim married Vladimir Schlick.  They moved to his apartment and when I took control of him, he was that crazy kind of vampire exhausted.  His thirst was over half full.  I clicked for him to go home and he went straight to bed autonomously.  After sleeping for several hours, he suddenly got up out of bed and died of thirst.  It all happened very fast and I couldn't make it stop to get him to eat or drink plasma.  The game had gone automatically to the 3x speed of sleep and I never dreamed that he would die so quickly.  Here's a video of it on Facebook.

But, they say that vampire children eat normal food. However, I had mine drinking plasma juice because I thought that's what they were supposed to eat. Until a vampire is a Young Adult, he can eat regular food and also drink plasma juice to satisfy hunger.  Once a Young Adult, eating regular food will make him sick and he has to have plasma in some form to satisfy thirst.
