My game crashes about 12 times/day!

I'm getting very frustrated. My game crashes so often that I'm about ready to quit. I'm already taking all of the "saving precautions."

Is this happening to anyone else? Please help.

I know that other people have mentioned repeating crashing that, well happens often. Have you read the tips that are here?

@Playalot, thank you. I have tried almost everything in those links. I thought things were going a little bit better, but I just crashed again, twice so far this morning.

Oh rats! Sorry to hear that. I looked on the bug reporting forum but couldn't find anything specific. I wonder if its a bloated saving file. Do you have a really big game? Like a legacy or something? Or do you have a lot of items in your inventory?
I don't know if that would cause it but I can't think of anything else at all.
Fingers crossed that you find a solution.

It isn't a legacy, but I think it counts as "bloated," although I've never heard that term until recently.

Basically, I always play one sim family forever, and I have had aging turned off since I started playing when the game was released. I delete as many items as I can, but still, it has to be a lot of data. I have one sim that has fathered 52 children with sims living in other houses haha. It was a very fun experiment.

I do not want to give up my game. I won't!!

Yes, I had to keep track of them in a spreadsheet. I still do. Most are still infants.

However, I officially can no longer save my game without it crashing...meaning no game progress at all. I'm pretty upset 
According to origin, I've played that one game for 379 hours haha.

But seriously, if they don't fix it, I'm going to be making some angry phone calls to Maxis.

PLEASE make that angry phone call!!  I have the same kind of problems and since I clean out my files and only play one family/game at a time I doubt I have "bloated" save files.  It is beyond annoying.

I would say that 52 children is a lot for the game to track.  I'm betting your crashes are due to that.  As an experiment, make a new game and play with a new sim and see how long it takes for you to crash compared to your original game.  52 children is nearly 7 full households of just the kids.  Not counting all the moms.

@Dellenal, I've played this game for 385 hours so I'm not really excited about playing a new game for that long to see if it crashes haha.

Also, since only 12 are children, and infants are more like "objects," as someone on here pointed out, I don't know if that is the sole cause of the crashing. I think it's just a problem with the game in general.

I've taken this issue to the EA Sims Bug Report website now. I don't know that anyone here can help unfortunately.

If EA is going to make a game that allows me to collect lots of items and have lots of babies and play the same family forever then they are also responsible for making sure that I can do so without it crashing all of the time. This is on them.

I was at the point that I couldn't save ever, but now I lowered the gfx settings to the lowest possible and, before and after playing, I run anti-virus software, computer "cleaning" software, update and repair The Sims 4 via Origin and completely turn off my computer. That has made it so that I can now play and save ONCE. Then I have to do that all over again. If I don't, then it crashes on the second save.

Anyone else having the same problem may want to try that to be able to resume playing at least a little bit.

Anyways, despite all of this, I'm still playing the game and love The Sims! haha

I hope you can get this fixed fast.  For me, thank heavens, it seems the latest update has fixed my constant crash problems.  I still crash, but not as often.  What a relief!

Gosh Joria and lindsaysoderberg, this must be such an annoying, horrible glitch/fault/error for you both. Thank heavens yours, at least Joria, seems somewhat sorted.
I agree with you lindsaysoderberg, if it's not your computer at fault then it is up to EA to ensure that their game works correctly. I hope you find a solution/fix asap.

I don't want it to sound like I'm "complaining" on this forum so I decided to take it over to EA's forum. Also, they might actually be able to get the attention of the programmers...

And, call me crazy, but I still play, knowing that I may lose all of that progress haha.

lindsay have you updated your drivers lately?  Sometimes just checking all the things that might need updating that might not be auto-update helps.  I had done that, updated everything, but for me it still took the newest patch before things worked ok.  I still don't take any chances and "save as" frequently.

It's not that I wanted you to play it for 300+ hours.   But say you're going to be away from the computer for a while.  Then start a new game, pick a household, give them jobs and leave them doing their thing.  Come back and check occasionally.  Save the game, etc.  It might determine if it's the game, your computer, or that particular big save that you have.  Sometimes, a save can develop a bug in it or a corruption.  So my suggestion was to see if playing a new game would produce the same crashing behaviour.
