The Sims 4 Immortal Dynasty Challenge

Do the new rules, which basically ban everything I consider fun and helpful, apply to dynasty play?  For instance, no Get Together stuff, no reward lamps, no potions, (moodlet manager etc.), no Book of Life?

@joria those are the 2016 tournament rules. They are not the challenge rules.

Just clarifying.  So the Tournament Rules do not apply to Challenge Rules?  Because the base rules have changed so need to know do they apply.  It would certainly make an ID or RD much more difficult.

Players are responsible for knowing and following the General Challenge Rules. The rules below apply to all 2016 Tournament events (Dynasty challenges are not Tournament events). There will be exceptions and you will be informed of those exceptions in individual rule sets.*

Any changes to the Dynasty Rules are listed on Page 1 in the first 2-3 posts of this thread.

sdhoey is correct. 

2016 Challenge Tournament Rules -- ONLY for challenges!  This means the two new challenges we have in January (new year resolution and skill of the week) have to follow those rules.  All future 2016 challenges will follow this rule.  They are NOT for dynasty.

Dynasty rules -- first page first post on the specific dynasty thread.

For Dynasty:
Get Together -- allowed
Reward Lamps -- allowed
Potions -- allowed
Basically everything is allowed unless noted on the first page of this thread that it is banned for this dynasty.

Every dynasty will have slightly different rules.  Don't assume the rules for Immortal Dynasty applies to Rival Dynasty.

I played for a couple of hours last night and found the town more appealing than I thought. So the Riley's will continue in the Oasis.

Added:
You may edit community lots to add or rearrange objects such as microphones, easels, etc. You may also add on club hangouts. You still may not bulldoze community lots.
Substitute cemeteries: Willow Creek (Magnolia Blossom Park), Oasis Springs (Desert Bloom Park), Windenburg (Hare Square), and your own retail lot.

Great news about editing lots for club hangouts. I've discovered pre-existing lockable hangouts in the Shrieking Llama Bar (basement) and the Avant Gardes have one in the South Square Cafe, but they're boring hangouts as they are now. Thanks!

Question... can I redo my town? Meaning take some houses away, add more venues and give it a revamp? Does that make sense?

Yes.  There is no end dates for dynasty challenges.

Yes and no, depending on what you are planning to do.

You are allowed to place "MAXIS CREATED" buildings (commercial and residential) in your dynasty. 
You are allowed to add club hangouts.
You are allowed to edit community lots to add or rearrange objects such as microphones, easels, etc.

You cannot bulldoze any lots that comes with the town, residential or commercial.  Just say "no" to bulldoze.
The only time you are allowed to bulldoze is your starting lot (lots listed on the first page).

You cannot take houses away (except starting lot).
Newcrest has 15 empty lots, there should be more than enough space for you to add venues to revamp your town.

Okay, Thank you for clarifying. That was how I understood it from the rules page, but wasn't sure I understood it right. So I filled NewCrest up with Maxis lots (both venue and homes). So when it comes to my dynasty home, I can NOT find one from the gallery, I have to build it myself?

Yes, building your own house has always been part of the Immortal Dynasty Challenge.
