So maybe I'm not understanding what's happening - like I said I'm not there yet. If the game is seeing the ghosts as "living" in the houses, are they not like the ghosts in Sims 3 that "live" in the house - such as the Goth family and Violet Slymer in Moonlight Falls, or a ghost that you have join the household. Those ghosts are inhabitants of the house, and you can interact with them during the day. Is that not the case here?
They are just the ghosts of townies that have died and for some reason the game has now placed them in the households. For example I have the ghost of Eric Spencer-kim-Lewis-whatever in one house and random game made townies my sims never knew in all the other houses. Metro has said in a post somewhere on this thread that ghosts don't count towards the friendships needed for ambrosia.... so, because sims/ghosts IN houses don't get culled it would be nice to actually have living sims IN the houses instead of these random ghosts.
If you think about it, it is pretty crazy that apart from one other sim (who is an elder anyway) and my dynasty house, every other resident townie is dead, i.e. a ghost.
They are not ghosts like in TS3 that were made by the devs specifically for supernatural population.... just dead and annoying townies that my dynasty sims never knew while they were living. Basically these ghosts are never going to die so therefore will not be replaced by the game in a generation or so ... they will be the towns residents now until I either give up on my dynasty or complete it. (Either scenario I will be kicking them straight out.)
The issue with ghosts or sims in houses is the Gurus have stated quite clearly that in-house sims do not get culled. So... if we want to make and keep friends for our ambrosia requirements then it would be prudential to have living sims in the towns houses and not ghosts. At least then when our sims made a friend if they were in a household they would not be culled the next day (or however regularly it happens).
It's really an issue with the game mechanics, personally I don't think that ghosts should be placed in houses, they should be able to 'haunt' the house and garden of where they once lived perhaps... but after death become a resident townie?!? It is a bit strange.
