We always recommend a complete uninstall and reinstall of the games when adding an expansion or stuff pack.  Just got mine uninstalled and about to start installing.

What is the best way to accomplish this?  Should I reinstall vanilla, then load it up and do all the updates, and then reinstall world adventures, and so on?  Or should I install all four before starting the game and getting the updates?

1st 1st 1st, update your video card, cpu and mobo drivers.  If you're unsure how to do this please PM me and I'll help you as best I can.

Wait for Pam or other tech Gurus to confirm, but I would say read this thread about updating DirectX, and if that doesn't work I'd follow the stickies in the Technical Help forum to do a complete uninstall - once that's done follow the instructions in this thread, but add Fast Lane and Late Night in step 4.  The SP/XP CD's contain the current updates as of that dics's publish date - so if you installed one disc after another in order I don't see a problem.

Thanks.  I always keep my drivers and DirectX updated.  I was more concerned with the game updates, because the last time I uninstalled/reinstalled (for Ambitions), I spent about 3 hours arguing with EA Download Manager (we still don't get along).

@TheGoat:

If you have Windows, you'll be prompted to install an update with each disk.  If you have a Mac, I believe you can update them all at once when you're finished installing all of the disks.

So far I think the game is great. Like others, I got pretty annoyed pretty quickly with living in an Apartment and dealing with the elevator. The new hair is great and the men's clothing is looking schnazzy!

But for now, I'm going back to my medieval town and see if I can't somehow have celebs and maybe wait for some artsy simmer to create historic-friendly clubs. And I am also loving the band thing, but no gigs after 2 hours of playing where I was in a band with pretty high skill.  :-\

I just got mine a couple hours ago. I have been playing around with it. I think it is cute how the opportunities are from your "agent" now. I am disappointed with the lack of places to move in and all the apartments are so small. I went to 2 different clubs per request from my agent and I was the only person in there, others who tried to get in were denied at the door. So I am a little irritated about that. Other than that the idea of the whole thing is awesome and I hope it picks up soon.

Welcome to the forum bd1225. You mean that your and another sim where the only sims at a party? Haha, it must be really exclusive if only two sims are invited.
So you have an agent? Is that when you start a band or when you start being famous?

@ anyone who has the answer: is the guitar bug about giving 10 different parties finally fixed now, with all those new instruments?

I don't know what I think just yet. I played for a little while and I can say right now that Bridgeport is a bit confusing at first. With all the different signs when zoomed out like for the subways and such. I haven't yet played enough to give a good first impression but I was not all that impressed with Bridgeport so far hopefully that will change!

Thank you very much. No, my sim was the only person at the club :D, and I was not happy that I had to do an appearance at a dead club. I noticed the agent thing after I started getting celebrity points. My sim was a level 3 when I noticed it.

Oh, definitely.  That's totally how I felt at first too.  But, it has really grown on me and I really like it now.

It felt really strange to load up an old saved game in Twinbrook.  It seemed so sleepy and rural.   I'm not sure I can go back to that "small town" life now!

What's messed up about the elevator is that it takes longer to travel anywhere than it does to woohoo in it. I'm still missing the woohoo scenes from TS2...now it's like, what just happened.
