I just got the game, and while I haven't started "playing" yet (I've pretty much just created two Sims and moved them in, and checked the city out) I really, really like what I've seen so far. First of all, the new clothes are fantastic. Both World Adventures and Ambitions disappointed me when it came to new clothing, and I usually stuck to the same clothes I had used dozens of times in Vanilla already. In this game, there's at least half a dozen new looks for both genders that look simply fantastic, and a few others that are very nice as well. The new hairstyles, while kind of extreme in some cases (That beard!) are mostly great as well. Hairstyles for women were never lacking, but the two new shaved styles for men are bound to be used a lot by me. Muscle definition, breast size (Finally!), astrological signs and the ability to pick ANY lifetime wish (!!!) are great additions as well. I have to say, CAS was greatly improved.

I know there's a lot of complaints about the apartments being small (And yes, they are) but I don't mind since there are a few that are larger and they do look really great. Apartments have a kind of nice feel to them that I like - then again, I've always been more of a city person. I also like that Bridgeport is so, so different from the other towns and it really allows you to play the game in a different ways. The lack of areas to build houses doesn't really annoy me either. After all, the point of Bridgeport is to experience the "city life". For someone who wants houses, the other areas are still there, and Bridgeport is excellent for those who prefer to play in apartments.

I expect the bugs to be fixed soon, but to be honest they don't seem that major. The inability to complete some opportunities seems annoying indeed, but hardly renders the game unplayable - and it's probably one of the things that will be fixed first.

I really like this expansion so far. I never use the game's clothes as I use CC, but I found myself using some of these clothes because they're really good! I also love the vampires. The butler is really cool too. And I love going to bars! I mostly don't go to the hot spots but even though I don't there are quite a few sims there. My self-sim always goes and orders drinks for everyone, haha.
Anyway, this is a really good expansion, I'm quite satisfied with it! The only problem I've encountered is that there are people named "Play Boy", "Spa Lady", "Politician Wife" and so and it's really weird, mainly because my game isn't even in english. But I can live with it, lol.

I am very happy to hear that the CAS has improved. I like custom but I promised myself I wouldn't fill my game with downloads like I did TS2 (over a gigabyte). I really like the paintbrush option for recoloring but the clothes were still a little dull in style. And I love hair so I'm looking forward to that, too. I am definitely getting it today... Hopefully.

I poked around Bridgeport last night and noticed the butterfly dome! What an amazing park! At first I assumed it was a science center, but no. Have you discovered the secret way inside it? Also, the dome is a build item!

Hi,

Been playing a lot of Late Night and is definitely best expansion yet. Just a shame that there's no simple way of transferring a save from another city over...oh well. I'm an actor, got married on the third day! Clubbing is awesome and there's so much to do. The city is massive and you are literally spoilt in terms of the variety of buildings there are. The apartments and houses are nice, and the former aren't too expensive which is really good...it's a change from buying a house and having to start with about 2k!

Loving the nightclubs...getting past bouncers is fun and it's really relaxing just getting into those hot-tubs...mmm.

It's a shame travelling takes so long but I guess that's inevitable with such a big city. Don't really care about the vampire stuff but the news clothes and furniture are interesting additions just to top it all off.

Is it just me though or do you have a lot more energy? Clubbing seems a lot easier considering you can go to sleep at 2AM and wake up in time for work at 11AM!

Mostly I just wanted to be able to say I've done it and get some great screenshots and videos.  I don't think there are many players who have a vampire ghost toddler AND a vampire toddler.  :D

You are totally unique in this.  ;)

I'm finding the vampire thing very upsetting and disconcerting.  At my age you would think it wouldn't be a big deal but I literally have nightmares after my Sims get that being hunted moodlet, especially when it's a townie they already knew and have to interact with.  It's bad enough I am actually considering uninstalling Late Night, despite my loving the other new features.  I guess it wouldn't bother me so much if they kept to Bridgeport but they are all over and the only way I can see to avoid them is to not have Late Night installed. :-\ :(
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Celebrities and vampires change the gameplay in such fundamental ways, that I wish they had put those elements one expansion, and the build/buy stuff as a separate stuff pack.

Joria, you're not the only one who is less than excited about having vampires in the game.  To me, it's like they've created a new disease that infects sims, and I don't understand the appeal of it.  Vampires again?  Yawn - I had enough of that in Sims 2, thanks very much.  And the celebrity thing gets old very quickly for me as well.  What I really like about Late Night is the new instruments and the ability to have bands - I just love watching my clan jamming together.  And the other great thing is that now we can choose any LTW for our sims without being limited by their traits.

Another change I've noticed since getting Late Night that I don't think has been mentioned, is the great sales the town stores now offer.   The bookstore in my SV dynasty has just announced a 45% off sale, and I think the most I've ever seen before was 20%.  Books, recipes and sheet music are now a lot more affordable.

Oh, so that is a new feature?  I was wondering about that.  I guess they realized I was rolling my eyes every time they offered a 5% off sale and decided to make the sales actually meaningful. ;)

Maybe that's why I'm so excited about getting them, I never played 2! Of course, I also love vampire movies except that one series whose name I won't mention but all the others are awesome and I can't wait til next month and the first thing I'm gonna do is play a vampire and turn all my friends! Hehe!

Do you have a problem with all vampires or just these Sims 3 ones?  The vampires don't bother me yet, but I haven't had a bad encounter, either.  The hunted thing is just a moodlet and nothing ever happens.  It goes away when the vampire leaves the area or when my Sim makes friends with it.  I have control of a vampire in one game, but I haven't done anything with him except feed him plasma fruit and plasma juice.  He even sleeps in the regular bed with his wife.  I have no desire for my Sim to be turned into a vampire.  For me, so far, the vampires are just another Sim except for the momentary excitement of that one dying of thirst and his ghost haunting the place and fathering the triplets.

To anyone who doesn't yet have Late Night - think carefully before you have your sims seek celebrity.   The members of the Clan Douglas Dynasty haven't particularly sought celebrity, but some of the people they wanted to meet were celebrities, and that led to this happening:

This is one of several paparazzi that's always on the lot, snapping pictures and getting in everyone's face.  He followed my sims in from the yard one evening, and they had no option to tell him to leave.  He took pictures of them whille they ate and then hung around playing chess until long after everyone went to bed.  My only consolation is that he would have been cold from sitting on the ice chair.  I tried having one of my sims zap him with the moodlet manager, but even that didn't get rid of him.  I've now locked the doors to all but family.  Hopefully, that will keep the paparazzi out, but I wouldn't count on it.
