Pools Info and Teasers (Coming in November)

Today Simgurushannon posted a picture on twitter showing an actual pool in the game!

(Pool is to the right of the blue ghost)

Gamenguide Announced the information they had on pools.

You will be able to set pool depth (how deep it is) from

“pretty deep” to “I hope there aren't any sea creatures living in here” as you please.

They also stated that you will be able to sit on the side of the pool, as well as pee in the pool if you so choose too and drown in the pool!

We were shown how the Sims could sit on the edge of the pool- a series first- and even pee into the pool if they so chose.  All signs pointed to a wonderful time, but nefarious plans were afoot. Vaughan carved out a little square pool a little bit away and put our Vader cosplayer in there before building four walls around him. He was trapped. Now- the wait. He would take a while to get exhausted and drown but thankfully a quick tweak of the developer’s mode and our poor hapless Sim was struggling to stay above the water, and soon he was no more. A little urn with ashes appeared near the walled-off pool, and his family members were sent to cry and grieve over it and lament hiring H.H. Holmes as their designer.

It was also mentioned that like ghosts who die from fire ghosts who die from water will have a special effect associated with them and will leave puddles of water everywhere they go.

Disclaimer: As with most things until the final release comes out anything can change these are just things that have been shown at this point.

Hmmm...I wonder...if you can deliberatly drown sims can you deliberately incinerate them as well to get specific elemental ghosts?

Pool depth, wicked! Peeing in pool... lol how disgustingly funny.

According to SimsVip here EA has corrected the statement about peeing in pools.

Sims can't deliberately pee in the pools, but they can have a bladder failure.

Probably just as well... I totally wouldn't be letting my sims do that!

I wonder if they'd get the "blue ring of shame" around them if they peed in the pool? To this day, I still don't know if that is really a myth or not

Peeing in the pool? They call that a "contamination incident" now! So glad they can't do it deliberately. I'd like to know if you can set your sim up to do lengths of the pool to build fitness instead of constantly directing them.

That would be great. Previously I couldn't see the point of pools before, due to directing them all the time to get any skill gain. I wasn't bothered they left them out in 4 as I only really used pools in the Sim 3 to use up money.

If they take a page from Freeplay's book they could be used for diving and...if and when weather's introduced...ice skating.

Dang it! The teasers are killing me. I've no idea why I'm so excited for new stuff in TS4, I was never like this for TS3... maybe I'm coming down with simsickness. 

Is it just my vivid imagination but are those windows at ground level behind the sims sitting on the edge of the pool and indication of a basement?  And is that steps going downwards towards those windows ? (Look behind the dark haired sims head).

Maybe the pool has been built above ground for aesthetics though...

I love sitting by the poolside, I'm glad S4 players won't need to use pose player to do that

@Simgurugraham posted a picture of a pool that was shown to them on twitter. I went one step farther and analyzed every action and verified every piece of furniture in the game. Only item I couldn't figure out was the grey things next to the chairs. Closest I could come up with is an ottoman but they don't look the same in my game.



I mentioned the man swam the entire pool length due to the water pattern trail behind him in the water.

Also to note the pool looks to have the same size foundation as the building. This makes me curious if indoor pools will be possible?
