Since when do children get escorted home by the police? I thought the parents go out and get them, and they have to follow the parent home. None of my rebellious teens have gotten caught by the police (yet). I think the rebellious trait reduces the risk of the teen getting caught being out past curfew.

Since the very base game, Jeana. They get caught if they are out after curfew (I believe it starts at 10 PM), get tucked into a police car, and are brought home, for parents to lecture them. I believe your case is the "Out when has the "Got Into Trouble" moodlet". If so, than yes, the kid will have to go back home, all by themselves.

And yes, correct, the Rebellious trait is said to greatly decrease the possibility of a child/teenager to get caught if out after curfew. Haven't tested this though.

I do want to add another possible option, but perhaps I was (un)lucky:

One time only, I had a teen sim who was out fishing past curfew. She climbed into her car to go home, but the police did not bring her home. Instead, she was removed from the family entirely.

However, I've had teens who hit the curfew mark while on their way home in a taxi, and nothing ever happens.

My children and teens are no longer allowed to visit friends after school, and if they are doing an afterschool opportunity or activity, I queue them to go home automatically.

That must have been a bug, or else a side effect from a mod (if you have any)

I guess the first obvious question is... Inclement, do you have any mods in your game? If you do, don't name them, just say yes or no. :)

No. I exited without saving, and sent her home earlier instead.

This copy no longer exists due to Generations.

As this is obviously not normal game behaviour, the only possible answer is that it was a glitch in that copy.

I do not use mods. I do not use custom content. I do not even use Create A Pattern. The only two cheats I have ever used is resetSim when I have sims stuck in porch stairs or with dirty plates attached to their hands; moveObjects when I have had items stuck inside one another.

Therefore, if it is glitch or mod, the only possible answer is "glitch."

Sorry about that.
Do the burglars get caught every time if there is a burglar alarm?

Actually though, I did call the police on the burglar once (PRE-Generations) and My Sim got lectured by the police with the little pop up message in blue "You shouldn't play with the phone like that. That's §500." This was immediately after the burglar got away.

This happens sometimes, too. That's when the thief gets away with your stuff and literally the police has nothing left to do, so they charge you 500$. >:(

Well, the police are pretty sharp when it comes to curfew violations.  If a child or teen is not on their home lot (or a friend's lot who has given them permission to sleep over) and does not have an adult from the household with them, they will be caught and escorted home 100% of the time.  Sometimes they get caught immediately, sometimes it takes a while...but it always happens.  I have tested and proven this with my "homeless teen" experiment.

However, while underage sims are no match for them, the police are very "hit or miss" when it comes to burglars.  Even with a burglar alarm, the likelihood of the burglar escaping is about 50%.  I've even had brave sims beat a burglar down (one time they beat him down twice), only to have the police officer show up and get manhandled by the burglar.

Granted it has been a few weeks since the last post in this topic but I have been busy with Metro's challenges and RL so I am just getting around to reading the topics I missed.

Hosfac, you are so right that the police will get your teens if they are not on the home-lot in time.

I had one teen who was running home from two homes away (I could see him running less than one lot over) and the 'caught after curfew' message came up.  By the time the police showed up he was home and in bed (I had that queued up already).  It was so silly as the boy disappeared from his bed and somehow ended up in the police car.  Strange game ::)!

Twice I have had a teen get arrested for being out after Curfew just after they have left the prom now that is unfair. It could potentially be a decadynasty game breaker because if the teen is grounded by his parents he might not get on the honor roll.

This is why ninja vanish potions are awesome. Personally I think the curfew is a really stupid idea and definitely something I would be uncomfortable with in real life. If only there was an option to turn it off.

I'm fine with the night curfew but I don't like the morning one. I like to send some of my teen sims to the library before school but it's hard when they live an hour away and can't leave the house til 7.
