What are the different levels of quality for food? Is excellent the highest?

My chef sim who had level 10 cooking, I think about level 6 gourmet, best oven, and whatever the trait is that gives you excellent meals straight off (glutton, I think?), only ever made excellent meals, I never saw one that was perfect. Unfortunately I lost that save game so I couldn't max her gourmet cooking etc to see if the meals improved.

My sims easily make excellent quality meals, and having max cooking and gourmet cooking skills, max cooking career, and the best stove and fridge, fully upgraded and flavourised, very inspired, and magnificent/pristine ingredients has not improved it past excellent. She has made the same meal over, and over.... it still does not improve past excellent.

Yes, excellent is the highest.  You still do get a getter moodlet when making recipes that are level 7-10 however than lower level recipes.  Also, you get a better moodlet from making a high level gourmet recipe than a high level normal recipe.

Thank you ClayMask, that is good to know. I haven't paid that much attention to the moodlet value for food until now.

I'm moving this to the Miscellaneous Help board.

It's odd that even beginning cooks can produce excellent meals.

Yes it seems way to easy to hit the excellent cap although the higher skill gourmet meals do give better mood bonuses.
