Notes on Origin

You must use Origin to open and play Sims 4 as well as many other Origin games. You will need to install and be logged into Origin on each computer you use in order to be able to play most Origin games. **Only one computer can be logged into Origin at a time.**

You can use Origin in offline mode.  You may need to login using the username and password used to purchase the game. Go to My Game Library to find your games. Or you can play in offline mode by clicking on the word Origin in the menu in the upper left, and select Go Offline. As shown in this post.

Origin isn't set up to share games in-between accounts. - You can log into Origin using a different account than the one you used to purchased Sims 4 with, but you will not have access to your Sims 4 game or other Origin games you purchased with your other account.

The Origin client updates do not add anything to the Sims game. It is an update for the Origin application which is different than a game patches/updates for Sims 4 (which often does add new features and changes etc).

It's a good idea to keep the Origin client up to date, so you can keep playing your Origin games with full capabilities. Even if you don't play online, keeping Origin up to date ensures you have and keep access to your games.

**********

If you have problems with Origin, it is recommended to uninstall/reinstall Origin. [This will not mess up the installed games, as they are installed in separate folders.]

However, this may not work well if your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Origin.

Origin Minimum Requirements:
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or later
1ghz Processor · 512mb of System Memory
128 MB of Video RAM
https://www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/download

How to find my computer information? (Click Here)

The above specs are just for running Origin. This doesn't take into consideration the games you're trying to run and play on the computer. Which require their own minimum specs.

When you try to run a game on a pc with minimum specs or have graphics that is under minimum specs, it may load the game but won't play the game that well and you will certainly run into graphic issues, lag and crashing.

Also please keep in mind the more updates EA/Origin releases for both the Origin client and game the more neither are going to work on older/lower end pcs.

If there are any further questions you might try asking over at Origin Tech Support.

Repairing Any Game Installed via the Origin Client

Repairing Any Game Installed via the Origin Client

Right Click on a game and select Repair Game.

When repairing any game you have via Origin, It only affects the files for the actual game. It doesn't make any changes to save game files. If you have any mods in the game, you may need to remove those first before running the repair tool.

Essentially, it compares your installed game files with the files on the Origin server and re-downloads any files that are different. It will also repair registry entries for the game if any have been altered or erased.

Origin Is Not Running

Origin is not running
Error: d3382ced

It's recommended to uninstall and reinstall the Origin Client. Check to make sure you've got the latest version:

----> https://www.origin.com/en-us/download

If this doesn't help, run a program like Ccleaner and it's registry cleaner. And try installing it again.

Ccleaner - Standard Edition is Free

https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download?mac -- Mac

-- This helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used.

My Origin Games Are Missing?!
« Reply #12 on: October 19, 2015, 03:14:25 PM »
My Games Are Missing

This a common problem that EA Game players have been having since early Sept 2015.

Open the EA App >  Library > This should take you to all your installed games. You may need to look under Manage to see the extra content such as expansions and stuff packs.

If you're still having problems finding any of your games or having more account issues, you need to contact EA (https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/). We cannot help with game code and/or EA Account issues. Only EA customer service can access user accounts.

Issues with EA Account - Lost Access to Account?

If you've lost access to your account, forgotten username or password, you can reset your password: (https://help.ea.com/en/help/account/reset-password-expired-credentials/)

You may be able to create a new EA Account and merge your old one with your new account as long as you can verify account information for the old account.

If you have problems with your account, please contact EA (https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/). We cannot help with game code and/or EA Account issues. Only EA customer service can access user accounts.

Origin's Default Settings - How To Change?

Origin's default is to Let Origin decide. If you want to see all your games that are purchased and/or installed. You'll need to go to the Game Library.

If you want this to be permanent go to the Origin Menu (up in the upper left hand corner of the client.) Click Application Settings to the right of the Default Screen option, choose Game Library.

Next time you log into Origin, it will open up in the Game Library.
