Unable to Type
« on: September 25, 2014, 05:51:39 PM »
I sometimes have to reload the page to be able to type here. It sometimes lets me type, but lags and will not show the blinking cursor to tell you what field you're typing in. It is so slow that it's impossible to complete a proper message. I don't know if it's a Forum-wide issue or related to my browser (Chrome). When I close my browser and reopen the Forum, everything works normally.

If this is happening to you, can you please share your experience and what browser you're using? Thanks.

I'm getting fatal errors on the page, Carl. This started happening this afternoon, along with a ton of other drama in my life (go figure).

When it happens to you in Chrome, do you have any other pages running? In particular, are you running a messenger program? At the same time that it happened to me, Shockwave crashed. Yahoo Messenger, AIM, and Skype have all caused these types of crashes in Chrome in the past. They don't seem to interfere at all with FireFox.

That's the kind of thing that would prompt me to clear all browser data and reinstall Flash. I haven't ever gotten a fatal error here, but the ads do use flash as do most sites on the net. Google has flash ads, as do some of our other partners.

Edit: It does appear to be flash related, as when ads that are not animated load, I'm able to type fine. Hrm..

Also, yes, I do have multiple browser windows open most of the time as well as Yahoo Messenger but was able to make the issue occur with only this window open.

I have this happen as well but a refresh typically clears it up. It's almost as if the page randomly begins to do a permanent refresh. If it helps when I had my gif jammer (it pauses gif animation) on I never saw the issue. I didnt have the issue till I disabled it.

edit: I forgot to add I use Chrome as well
