Sims 4 Patch - Sept. 25, 2014
« on: September 25, 2014, 05:30:36 PM »
There is a new Sims 4 Patch out.  It doesn't seem to mention many fixes, especially for ongoing issues like plant-grafting:

The Sims 4 Patch 9/25/2014

Quote
Update: 9/24/14

Bug Fixes / Issues:
• Fixed some issues related to error codes 102 and 122--Fixed an issue that prevents loading an auto-saved game directly from the "Load Game" menu.
• Fixed some instances of disappearing Sims.

Did you know?
• You can change your camera preferences in the Options panel to use the The Sims 3 Camera control scheme. [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Tab] will also toggle between The Sims 4 and The Sims 3 camera settings.

Note:  You will have to log into Origin to get this patch, and activate it if you have automatic downloads disabled.

I'm going to move this to the EA Announcements Board, Bri.  Let's keep putting this kind of thing on that board.

Thank you for posting this. I often look for this kind of info before I patch the game.

You're welcome Indira.  And yeah, it is sometimes a good idea to wait on patching.  I've had occasions where a patch can cause even more problems than it fixes, and then you have to wait for a patch of the patch.

I didn't have a choice in the matter, and the patch seems to have bugged in Origin for both me and my girlfriend, who can no longer play the game at all (and EA can't seem to help her fix the problem, so that's essentially $70 wasted for her).

I'm not happy with this patch at all. It doesn't seem to improve the game and I had to uninstall and reinstall everything just to play!

With the last patch, it just automatically installed it. This never happened with Sims 3, I had to choose to install it. Anyone know how I can change it? I don't want to install it if it is causing more problems, especially if it's causing games to be unplayable and losing all saves etc

Open up Origin (don't start Sims yet), then slect origin on the top toolbar. From there, select application settings and from there in the general tab, scroll down to updates and untick automatic updates.
Once you do that, to update, you will need to right click sims 4 in the My games section (before you start Sims 4) and select update.
For the record, I hhave had no problems with the latest update.

I've had no issues with this recent patch either.  I think I saw someone post that they had to uninstall and reinstall Origin.  Not sure if that will help some of you or not.

I had no trouble either. I wonder if the problem is if your origin is not up to date? There was an update to origin a day or so ago too and I updated that before I updated Sims 4

Thanks for the info Twinmum on stopping the auto update. I usually don't want to install updates until I find out if any mods I use need updated to work with the new patch.

That was me. My girlfriend/best friend can't load The Sims at all now that the patch has installed on her game. EA has been completely unhelpful so far. :-/

Have her post on our site here. From my experience our people are pretty helpful and might have some things to fix it in the stickies.

Well I opened up Origin, and it started installing the patch, even though I hadn't even opened the game! So then I cancelled it, and changed the update settings. Then I clicked to play the Sims and it said "Sims will not be playable until you have installed the latest patch". So I had no choice but to install it. Luckily it is still working for me, though.

Yea things with launchers like Origin always require updates to play so turning off auto updating can be helpful for bandwith control or if your system can't handle downloading the update in the background while you play. Other than that it wont actually stop you from updating.
