Chapter 103: Getting ByLeah took the news as well as can be expected. No matter how prepared you are it's still a terrible shock to lose a loved one.
Young Aden feels the loss of his granddad too and was in a strange quiet sort of mood.
I encouraged him to talk about it as it's never healthy to keep things bottled up.
Matt, although he hadn't known Winston for very long, had grown very close to him so took his feelings out on the punching bag.
Kennedy spent a lot of time in the studio where she felt closest to him.
Laila and dad hung out.
They have such a close relationship that they were able to comfort each other.
After lunch Laila and I took Aden and Tiana to a local park.
It was so good to be able to spoil them for an afternoon.
They are such dear children.
We all chatted for ages before finally actually making it to the park. It was a good afternoon.
Later, I tinkled the ivories a little and thought about how to get my affairs in order while I still had time. I knew I had to name the next heir soon...
Kennedy and I enjoyed each others company for a while as we watched the Fireplace Channel in front of the fireplace.
And then it was time for Laila's next party. None of us were really in the right mood for it, but the legacy has to continue no matter how down we were all feeling over Winston's death.
Jovan, Julianna, Khalil and Laila played cards. It was a little tense with Jovan and Khalil not quite hitting it off.
Matt and Tiana really enjoy each other's company. Matt's surprisingly good with kids considering he's had no experience.
Matt's dad picked up the party a little by telling some jokes and Tiana and Matt chatted away happily.
A bit of dancing...
Some great food...
and some gentle ribbing of Leilani's hilarious hotdog costume, had us all feeling a lot happier. Laila got a silver medal as for some reason we couldn't seem to all eat at the same time... even though we had! A rather confusing outcome but Laila was happy enough to have another party under her belt.
Talking about belts...
Matt rushed out the door to work the next morning claiming that he better have a promotion by the end of the day or he'll be gutted.
Laila's taken up painting and Kennedy is only to happy to pass on all the knowledge that Winston had passed onto her.
I was pleased to have Aden pop in. He looked a lot happier today. It's about time we all stopped getting by and were happy again. I know that this is what Winston would have wanted.
