Chapter 56: When The Chips Are Down

Now don't get me wrong, I'm going to miss mum just as much as everyone else. I just show it differently. I gave Kennedy a hug, her and that stupid brother of mine will be fine. They just don't realize it yet. Anyway, she was good for $45.

I managed to fleece a bit more from Dad, $68.

I figure it was only fair to fleece the mailman... after all he wasn't grieving so it made the challenge harder.

A few heartfelt <snort> compliments and 'gottcha'. $16! What? Geez, that was hardly worth it.

Oh and then, who should come along but Khalil. He never made time for me as a teen but it's a bit different now that I've got curves.

I decided that he would make a pretty nice toy. Kaching $58 while I was figuring out a plan.

I still had 75% of my work's goals to get done before reporting in for another shift, so I thought I'd try the 'old noxious gas' trick.

I think I've outdone myself with this one. Phewweeyyy.

Khalil thought it was him LOL

Oh The Watcher that's hilarious.

I couldn't stop laughing. Meanwhile Mr High and Mighty was dying. Hahahaha

And to top it all off... the Air Horn Delux...

Oh yeah! He went off to get over it all and I bound him to my voodoo doll number three.

Kaidan was only worth $7! What's with that? What does being a sad mopey idiot make you poor?

I sent him off for a run in the fresh air.

I caught up with Uncle Jon in the park. I guess because everyone's still grieving they're all falling for my pickpocketing 100%.
I felt a little bit of guilt at fleecing Uncle Jon, but hey, if it wasn't me it would be someone else. Everyone says better the devil you know... $72 Just in case you were wondering.

$76.

And a impromptu play. It's just a fake mischief action that Valentin was happy to do...

So I could get sympathy from her. $98

Then I wanted to check in with Winston. He really suits me. I think he makes me look good.

In fact I might ask him to move in... maybe.

I definitely like Winston.  And I can't help but laugh a little at all the money she's making by pickpocketing XD Though I feel bad that she's hitting all her grieving relatives XD

Chapter 57: Life's Like That

Kennedy and I had a thing we needed to go to together. Alex and James had asked us out last week... so we went, sort of but not really together.

When it was over I headed off but Kennedy called me back.

She smiled at me and started to apologize but I interrupted her, grabbed her hands and told her how sorry I was, and what a jerk I'd been... I realized then that I should have been taking better care of her.

I kissed her gently on the cheek and told her I'd take her home.

We sort of grinned at each other as I dropped her off.

I had to hurry, I was supposed to be meeting Uncle Jon at the Oasis Springs park.

He was waiting for me by the time I got there. We'd come up with this crazy idea of breaking through into the old mine shaft so we could finally find out if all the old stories about a hidden grotto were true or not.

Now that we were there it all seemed a bit silly but Uncle Jon was on a roll, so we went for it.

As Uncle Jon disappeared I figured I might as well follow.

It was the most amazing place I'd ever seen. I could hardly believe my eyes as we sprinted in deeper.

To say that we were excited to be there would be a massive understatement.

Rods out... game on.

Oh YEAH! First blood. Legendary Batfish.

"Beginners Luck," called out Uncle Jon but he was just as excited as I was.

Oh, massive! Mythical Sturgeon.

Tiddler.

At our loud shouts the bats started flying and squeaking.

The next catches were synchronized. But man there were some crazy looking fish leaping at our bait.

I lost the next one.

Minutes before our time ran out Uncle Jon went to excavate some gems and such.

I could hear his chisel even though I couldn't see him, just as well as I didn't really want to be here by myself if I'm honest.

Unbeknown to us.... there was drama unfolding at home.

Cara had been warming herself at the fireplace.

Her leather jacket just exploded into flames...

The flames grew in magnitude within seconds....

Uncle Jon suddenly was desperate to get home, which seemed unexplainable at the time, but looking back... well... makes sense considering how close Cara and Uncle Jon always had been.

No, not Cara too, you really know how to end a chapter in drama. (Not that I did not try to do it myself last time) But Cara was so different.

@ Ferretmania, Cara's definitely got more to do yet!

@ KTK10, thanks! Cara totally cracks me up too  ;D

@ LenaLJ, I think I should have made 'different' Cara's middle name!

Chapter 58: Saved

Uncle Jon took off at a sprint.

If it hadn't been for his amazing ability to put out fires it would have been the end of Cara.

It was a close call, too close.

It's the only time I've ever known Uncle Jon to be angry.

But he ripped into Cara telling her quite a few home truths about her behaviour lately and her selfishness.

He then proceeded to calmly clean up.

I thought I heard Cara muttering something about not believing in karma as she stalked through the house. She smelt terrible.

Kennedy and I just sort of hung out and played Blic Bloc.

The next day I checked in with her after work. Just asked how her how her day had been and stuff.

Then it was party time.

I know, right. Pretty hilarious costumes. Winston looked almost as creepy as the real deal. It cracked me up that Cara came as a maid, <snort> good disguise for someone who's never done an honest days work in their life.

Don't ask me who everyone else was, honestly I could hardly recognise anyone at all.

It was pretty funny that the hotdogs and pizza delivery people hung in the kitchen. That's Juliana there on the end stool next to grey haired Eric. She looks more like Kayleigh now she's a teen.

Cara tried to get all snotty with Winston. He just told her that if she wanted to be with him she had to behave like a lady! I cringed... I knew that a huge battle was about to ensue.

Thing is... she just melted, then apologised! I nearly tripped over my own jaw as it dragged along the ground! Talk about astonished.

Dawn broke so it was time to end the party... and go to work. I think everyone had a good time looking at their grins. Haha, they all still look funny.
