Ahh! That makes sense now. To be honest, I was too busy watching Harrison disarm a trap, so I can't say for sure. I clicked on her to see if she had delivered the relic, and of course she was there with that basket, and I saw the moodlet and just assummed it was the cobra. Interesting that you can get the kiss moodlet regardless of type of snake. Now I'm wondering, is the moodlet different cobra vs reg snake? If it's not different, than I think that sucks because what if you aren't paying attention and your sim dies from the curse?? :o
I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him George!!

Pam, how is it exactly that you can obtain the cobra instead of the regular snake?  I click on that basket several times during hours of gameplay and the option for the cobra is not there.  Does the basket have to be in that sims inventory/backpack?  Awesome pic of the sim kissing the snake by the way!

Yes, click on the basket while it's still in their inventory.  You'll get an option to buy a Cobra for $1,000.

Now I'm wondering, is the moodlet different cobra vs reg snake? If it's not different, than I think that sucks because what if you aren't paying attention and your sim dies from the curse?? :o

I think the moodlet is the same for both snakes.  You'll just have to make sure you upgrade to the Cobra before you go finding any mummies!

Heh.  That's because she's nearly gotten her face bitten off by the stupid thing more than once!  I'll try to get a screenshot of that.  It's not fatal, but they get a substantial negative moodlet from being bitten on the face.

Well a mummy finally cursed my sim...and I wasn't real happy about it.  There was no interaction with the mummy, he basically attacked my sim and while they were fighting the message comes up that the mummy notices that Jack is very afraid, then, bam he's cursed.  :o  Jack is athletic and has 7 or 8 points on his athletics skill.  Not very happy at this point...there's a negative moodlet they get in their moodlet box that's a -25 I think.  Anyway he had 14 days to get rid of the curse or he was going to die.  Now Jack isn't my favorite sim but I couldn't let him die, or worse turn into a mummy.  :D  So I had him go the Sphinx to plead, then he had to go in and go to the soulpeace statute to get cleansed.  Not a hard tomb to go through and thankfully no more mummies to fight with and get cursed.  :D

I don't know why there was no interaction with the mummy.  And why couldn't Jack defeat the mummy with the athletic skill he has?  Anyone have any ideas?

I thought I read that it's a Sim's martial arts level that matters in a mummy fight, not athletic skill. If you think about it, it makes sense. How would being a Marathon runner be helpful against a showdown with Tutankhamun? That job calls for Bruce Lee.

That sucks! I've been working on my snake charming for just such an occassion just in case. Here are the problems I am now having:

1. Went into a tomb, and a mummy was going to attack me. I had mummy snacks, but I couldn't drop them anywhere. I tried hoving with the curser to see if I could give them to him, but there was a "no drop" signal.

What am I supposed to do with them?

2. I've gotten my charm skill up pretty high with the snake, but the only option I have when I click on the basket in my inventory is charm, or charm for tips. Nothing about being able to buy a cobra. Maybe the skill level isn't high enough yet? Any thoughts?

It may very well be skill related.  I'll do some testing and see what I can find.

Edit: Yes, the option to buy a King Cobra doesn't appear until they've got some skill. It's not in a skill journal or anything and there's no way to really measure it. But it looks like when they reach a certain point, they can buy the Cobra. They tend to leave the basket behind sometimes, so watch out for that. My silly Anabelle Ant started charming on someone's front porch and I couldn't get her basket back in her inventory. After spending $1,000 on that Cobra, too!  Grrr! Here's a screenshot of her getting bit in the face by the Cobra. Oh, and she got bit on the hand, too, when she reached into the basket to see if the Cobra was in there. Duh. Two big ol' negative moodlets for a few hours.

Hi everyone....I'm new to the forums here, but I wanted to comment on the mummy situation...

First of all, the mummies scare me! LOL I don't know why...I know it's just a game, but I always get nervous when a mummy shows up when my Sim is exploring the tomb! My main sim has a martial arts and athletic level of 10 and he can easily beat the mummies. But last night, I had his teen daughter exploring a tomb, (she's also a level 10 in martial arts, but only a 6 in athletics) and 2 mummies came after her! This was the tomb in France that is under the Nectary....the tomb of Jean Netreaux or something like that. Actually, I think it's two tombs combined....Tomb of Isle also. It's a huge tomb! Her dad had been in that one before and apparently, I didn't get him all the way through it, because she managed to find all the lower levels that I wasn't aware of. Anyway, so the 2 mummies started coming after her, but only one of them attacked and she got the curse. It happened so fast, I don't even think they fought.

So I was trying to figure out how to get rid of the curse before she died. That particular Sim family is able to take really long vacations, so they were in France for 22 days. I knew that I'd have to make them leave early in order to wait the 2 days before they could travel again, and then go to Egypt to find the Soupeace statue. I decided to get her the snake charming basket and let her practice that.

Then I thought of something.....her mother had a Soulpeace gem in her inventory!  I clicked over on that and saw that it is rumored to get rid of mummy curses! So I pulled it out of her mother's inventory and laid it on the ground and had her pick it up. I had her send it off to be cut and when it returned, her mummy curse magically disappeared. She hadn't gotten high enough on the snake charming to be able to kiss the snake yet, so I do think that the Soulpeace gem cured her.

Something else for you all to try anyway........ :)

Welcome to the Forum, RockinRobin!

You may be the only one here who has gotten the Mummy's Curse.  Thanks for sharing the info with everyone.  I haven't encountered a mummy yet, but I know I'll have to soon.  I'll have to let a Sim die from the curse, too, just so we'll be able to know what happens.  Not going to like that very much!

Pam, for some reason I missed your snakebite screenshot above from a few days ago. That is just classic.

I couldn't agree with you more, Horkslair. Game manuals have become essentially a joke. I guess developers feel that if gamers need the in-depth info there's always going to be good sites (like this one) with plenty of detailed info available just one click away.
