I decided to throw a dinner party.  Everything was ready, the food was prepared, the guests had been phoned and we were all in our party outfits.  But no one showed up.  So I failed (managed to get a bronze only because I called everyone (AKA the wife) to dinner.

Maybe I need to be more than acquaintances to have people over for a party?

I have also had mixed results when hosting a party. Being friends makes it more likely they will show up.
