It looks like that for me; maybe a Swedish screenshot?

Possibility since it is an actual shot from the launcher.  :)

I dug up this old file, because I did not want to start another one and I dated it today.  Anyway, I changed computers and put all of my files from my computer on my moms computer.  I finally got everything transferred and finally decided to play.  I was playing my orphanage game and was getting ready to adopt my first baby and was looking in the toys.  I saw something that did not look familiar and it was that stupid doll.  Now since this was my mom's computer and it has sat almost a year and a half without hardly being played, I am not sure where this doll came from.  I did not have it in my computer.  My mom did not even know how to download from the exchange, so I know she did not do it.  I have only downloaded stuff that I have bought from the store and stuff from this site, but there are some things in the installs that I do not recognize from the store.  Problem is, that doll is not in my installs or uploads, downloads or anywhere.  I found the information where to get rid of it, but it is not there either.  Where did this thing come from and was it attached to something else?  Does it effect the game if it is sitting in my buy mode?  I am not touching it, lol.  I am rather upset over this, because I have already deleted everything from my old computer.  I will look again in my installs, but the doll itself, is not there.

After looking in the downloads on the launcher three times and could not find the doll, I looked one more time and it was there, I uninstalled it, so I hope that is it for that thing.  Like I said, not sure how long it has been there, but it is gone now.  Wheww, ::)

I went cold turkey after the first go round with the  girl doll and I don't download anything from any where except the store now. I'm pretty sure I got it the first time from a house/with Sim that I downloaded from the exchange. The Sim was a female and she had a lot of tattoos.

I had not downloaded any sims with tatoos, but who knows.  I just hope that I don't see that thing again.  I almost paniced when I saw that doll.  I only posted this because I had looked through those downloads twice or was it three times.  After posting, I went back and found it.  That was close, glad I knew what to look for.

It has the ability to attach itself to virtually anything around it, so it might be a good idea to keep an eye out for it.  That's why I won't download anything from the Exchange anymore.  It's damaged goods as far as I'm concerned.

And for historical record:  the original version of the doll was not malicious by it's maker's intent.  It was not created to be a virus, but it was so corrupted that it emulated the behavior of one.  It was simply the result of an inexperienced modder attempting to add an interaction to a re-meshed version of a teddy bear that wasn't originally included.  The modder in question realized that the modification had failed, so she went to upload the version of her re-mesh without the modification.  However, in the course of the download, she mistakenly uploaded the wrong copy of the file.  As people downloaded it, the doll attached itself to files, which were then uploaded to various places across the net, causing it to spread to people who never even knew this doll existed.  That's how it became the bubonic plague of the Sims 3.  I got it from downloading a house from the exchange, and the doll wasn't even in the house.

The only reason I mention this is because this is the exact reason that mods are dangerous.

Isn't weird that it's always a creepy doll that messes things up? It could have been anything. A chair, a desk, a tv but no. It just had to be a doll. I never downloaded anything from the Exchange but I used to download houses from other websites so thanks Hosfac for mentioning it can attach itself to anything. Thankfully, I checked my files and everything seems to be dandy. :)

That file has been virtually eradicated from the net.  Once everyone figured out what caused it, any active site that hosted downloads purged anything and everything that came into contact with it, so you don't really have much to worry from downloads these days (not from this, anyways).  You'd have to download from a site whose administrators hadn't touched it in a couple years to have any worries of getting this thing.  But even today, the story of it has a good moral:  all it takes is a simple mistake to wreak unimaginable havoc.

But I do agree with the statement that this particular bit of evil coming in the form of a doll is a bit creepy.  Sort of reminiscent of the "Child's Play" movies, if you ask me.  :P

Well, I figured out, since I just transferred all of my files to my mom's computer, that somewhere down the road like, sometime last year, maybe she did some downloading from the exchange after my sister showed her how to do it.  I would imagine, since she basically did not know anything about this sort of thing, that doll has probably been there for quite some time.  It didn't do any damage and since the game has been played some on this computer some since then, it might have been the doll that didn't do any harm.  My heart still almost stopped when I saw it in buy mode though.  It is taken care of and no worries as of yet.  This thread can go back to sleep now, lol. :)

It's woken up again.
So Hosfac, if there is only downloadable from a site where Administrators hadn't touched downloads and uploads for several years, then it wouldn't be in the Swap Shop, would it? :-\

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that if somebody downloaded some CC that had the corrupted form of the doll attached from one of these neglected sites then (for example) put a sim onto our Swap Shop that I downloaded, I would also have the doll even though I did not directly download it. If later, I put a pattern or whatever onto the Swap Shop, then everyone who downloaded that would also get it. Is this correct?

Sorry, I prefer putting things this way so I can understand and remember them, and I wanted to make sure I am right. Also, this is a completely made up situation-I've never downloaded any CC (other than Swap Shop on this site) or anything from the Exchange.  :)

Oh, no. I don't mean I've seen it. Just that if it is, would it be on this site?

I think anyone uploading to this site is already using the items in their own game. If they were having problems, they probably wouldn't be uploading it here. Things hosted here are by the members themselves created inside The Sims 3. They aren't from some third party site. If we ever did have problems with someone new uploading something nasty, I would change policy to allow only people above a certain number of posts to upload.
