The Crown Dynasty
« on: October 17, 2010, 06:13:07 PM »
Presenting my immortal dynasty story. This is actually my third attempt at it but the first two didn't go very far. The first picture is of my founder next to the house he would like to pretend is his. In a challenge with the founder eventually dying I would have made him look extreme somehow but this time I see no point in passing on genes if he’s going to be around forever anyway. Instead I’m going to try to make the immortals look as different from each other as possible.

Name: Victor Crown
Traits: Ambitious, Charismatic, Photographers eye, Savvy Sculptor, Snob
LTW: Living in the lap of luxury
Supermax skill: Charisma
Career: Politics

Background: Victor Crown was born to a very rich family but his father spent it all on nectar, women and tips to musicians. This forced him to fire so many servants that the only remaining gardener also became Victor’s nanny. This man told tales of plants as bedtime stories and Victors favourite was always the one about the legendary life plant that in combination with the right fish could be made into a recipe for immortality…

Goals: Victor may not have much money left but he but after growing up amongst children of nobility he knows that the key to success is hard work, having a lot of influential friends and preferably also marrying a rich woman. His main ambition is to have loads of money, but his other humble dreams include being best friends with everyone, owning a castle and essentially becoming the immortal king of the world.

He spends the last family money on buying a big land area in the rich part of the town Sunset valley in the hope of being able to build a mansion there eventually.

After reading a charisma book in the library he goes out to see the town. It turns out that there is a lot of sims out this day and he makes sure to introduce himself to everyone and ask about their job. Most sims love to talk about their work and workaholics are especially easy to befriend that way.

Since he doesn’t have proper furniture yet he really takes advantage of his new friendship with the Landgraabs the first day and doesn’t even hesitate to steal poor Malcolms bed.

He also befriends his other neighbours the Altos and finds Vita very interesting. She is a bit old but rich and a charismatic snob with political ambitions like himself. He flirts with her a little and wants to kiss her but stops when her husband comes home and finds the situation suspicious.

After about two days he is the sim on everyone’s mind. The second night he also meets the most wonderful woman: Morgana Wolff, beautiful, artistic and rich. One minor problem is that she is already married but town gossip says the couple have been arguing and Morgana is very upset with her husband for refusing to have children and for flirting with her boss Jamie Jolina.

Hmmm, I smell a break up coming.  Good job on the story.

A break up is indeed close. It's not exactly hard to convince sims to do this, even if they have a good relationship they just get divorced the second someone suggests it.

The next day he decides to call Morgana over and she doesn't seem too bothered by the fact that he doesn't have a house. His only furniture is an expensive single bed he bought for the money he got for participating in a charming science project. Romance is now in the air as is the smell of a new car.

Victor easily convinces her she should leave her husband Thornton who also becomes his enemy. He proposes to here right there only minutes after her divorce is finished and she accepts but then runs away claiming she is late for work.

Thinking that she might change her mind or that Thornton might decide to take the car a wedding party is arranged the very same day. Before that he has time to regret his decision to not buy a toilet yet, depending on the neighbours for this can lead to embarrassing situations.

They get married in the town beach since he doesn’t want to show his new rich friends his home yet. Morgana joins the household and turns out to be an artistic, family-oriented workaholic who is also charismatic and good. She only brings about 10000 simoleons to household funds but also has a car worth 85000 which is enough for Victors LTW.

It's also enough to build the first part of their house. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to build stairs under foundation so the small basement that is meant to be the museum later is just a hole in the ground that must be a burglar's dream.

Put stairs in outside of the foundation and build a smaller, separate building to enclose the stairwell.  Burglars will be able to get down those stairs even if they inside the foundation of the house unless you have a burglar alarm on the wall.  They can open any lock made.

To build inside the foundation of the house, you have to remove several floor tiles and put stairs going to the ground level, then stairs going up from the basement.  If it still says "can't build inside foundation", you have to remove the foundation.  Don't worry, your house won't fall.  Just take the foundation away, put in your stairs then go down to ground level in your view and replace the foundation.  There is a tutorial that tells you how to do it, here: http://www.carls-sims-3-forum.com/index.php/board,15.0.html

Thanks for the explanation and the link Joria, I will try to fix the basement now but I’m a long time ahead of the story in gameplay so it will take time before it shows in pictures here.

I forgot to mention favourites earlier in the story: Victor likes classical music, white and lobster thermidor. Morgana likes classical music, spiceberry and spaghetti. Food really doesn't matter though since they will only eat raw vegetables and sometimes pizza the first weeks.

The wedding party was a success but Morgana leaves early as she gets a sudden desire to take a class in painting. Victor goes back to town to meet new people when he suddenly runs into Thornton Wolff who then becomes his nemesis after Victor explains his theories about Thorntons mother. About two days later Thornton gets married to Jamie Jolina and being the good person that she is Morgana actually wants to congratulate Jamie.

After four days and having reached charisma level 8 Victor thought it was time to join the political career. The people will probably want new politicians soon as they think the current government are a bunch of clowns.

Victor felt it was undignified for his wife to work as a bed pan cleaner and Morgana herself found having her ex-husbands wife as her boss a bit awkward so she soon quit her job and became a professional painter. They agreed they shouldn't have children until they both were further along in their careers but Morgana's desire to have a child never really went away and that is somehow reflected in her art.

Victors new boss turned out to be his old crush Vita Alto and he was a bit surprised to find out she ws pregnant. After hearing stories from travellers about children being conceived without physical contact he briefly wondred if the child could be his somehow. Vita explained that that sort of thing only happens abroad and turned it in to an inspirational speech about why this country is so great. A day later her and Nick's son Steve Alto was born.

Saturday morning Victor had completed his charisma skill, met 32 people and made 20 friends (14 best friends). Now feeling free to work on his photography skill he went to the consignment store to get a camera and after buying about 50 cheap or undervalued items he found an expensive camera along with a skill book. He got one job as paparazzi and then spent the rest of the day stalking people until they did something worth photographing.

Great start Nilla! I was seriously considering Morgana but I never ask Sim to break up so I didn't want to risk loosing too much time on her. So now I'll got the chance to see how that turned out! And you're lucky too, I haven't seen protest for a long time, and never saw clown one :D

Good luck with the story!

Anushka, the clown picture is not really right in the timeline; it's from the first day when it's usually some kind of protest going on. The Wolff family background kind of hints that they shouldn’t be together and this time playing there was even town gossip like "Thornton Wolff has been flirting with Jamie Jolina" so that made the decision easier.

Morgana quickly became a fast learner and finished her painting skill and two skill challenges. She then got a mid-life crisis since being a charismatic workaholic is not very useful for a self-employed sim. Instead she is now very interested in sculpting and photography. Her bathing outfit seemed more appropriate for sculpting with a chainsaw, at least it has some protection for the eyes.

They had big fundraising party when Victor got an opportunity to invite Tamara Donner and other coworkers to a party and several party crashers joined in.

Victor started his search for the legendary life plant by reading gardening books and then planting every seed he found in town. The seven special seeds became two money trees, one flame plant, two death plants and one normal and one very nice life plant.

Just having made her final ice personality sculpture after working day and night for weeks Morgana suddenly realises she is getting older and that might not be able to have children soon. She decides to bring up the matter with Victor once she finishes that ice sculpture of him that he wanted.

The first unmelting sim ice sculpture she ever made actually turned out to be a masterpiece! The painting took six attempts to make but that thing is apparently a masterpiece as well. She only had five in photography skill while taking the “my spouse” picture but Victor had maxed that skill before so when she got the camera the settings just never changed.

I later realised I was extremely lucky with that first statue thing, there wasn’t time left to make more than two and with later sculpting it usually took at least 10-20 attempts to get the beautifully decorated moodlet. The basement is just a simple rectangular space under the house at the moment but I have some plans on how to expand it.

Victor’s birthday came up a couple of days after Morgana’s but they didn't bother with a party this time either. He then actually got a wish to get his portrait painted. Right after the celebration they headed of to the bedroom to try creating the next generation.

Here is how their house looks from above. They have way too many expensive items since a certain snob kept wanting new ones.

Wanting a son Morgana only ate apples for days. She invited her only friend Pauline Wan over when she found out she was also pregnant. Pauline is generally good looking but her nose must be proof that aliens do exist in Sims 3. Morgana started giving birth later that evening, somehow still staying focused on her art.

Morgana gave birth to a baby boy that was born good like his mother and then also became friendly. The Crown dynasty name theme will be “legendary royalty” so the boy was named Arthur since the name Morgana reminds me of Morgan le Fay from the Arthurian saga.

Arthur had to spend most of his toddler days being painted and sculpted but there was still some time for more normal mother-child activities. Morgana is still family-oriented so he learned to walk and talk pretty fast. I later realised there are no close up pictures from this stage but he already looks a lot like his mother and is dressed mainly in his favourite colour blue.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I just ran in to a part of the story I couldn’t figure out how to write like I’ve done so far, so I’m going to include dialogue sometimes now.

While Victor is going around town asking for political funding he accidentaly walks into a horrifying situation:

Victor: Hello Miss Kennedy, would you be willing make a donation for a good cause? Oh no!
Death: Yes. So what is this I hear about trying to become immortal with life fruit and my death fish? How would the world look like if no one ever died?
Victor: Well the ambrosia would just be for me…and my children… and their children…
Death: I see where this is going. You would want your wife and your thirty friends with you too I suppose and pretty soon I would have a town full of sims with no place to live.
Victor: Well, perhaps if I could keep the number down a bit?
Death: No more immortals than you can fit in your house or I’m coming for you - ambrosia or not!

Looks like death is really mad; Victors best friend and mentor Vita Alto is taken away while they are in the park together, she didn’t get to have grey hair for very long. Arthur is left alone on the lawn when his father runs to Vita but is too busy playing with his toy to notice the drama. The only other witnesses are Beau Andrews and his son Lamar.

Beau Andrews really deserves some sort of dishonourable mention in this dynasty: the first two weeks he was seen cheating on his wife with no less than three people! Apparently he is just irresistible (see also post one, picture nr two).

Shaken by the encounters with death Victor makes more efforts with gardening and fishing. So far the best life plant is only great (not choosing green thumb for trait was pretty stupid). Arthur’s birthday comes up and Morgana has yet again made masterpieces for statue and painting but Victor took the picture.

Arthur grows up to a child that looks more like his mother than his father, which is good because in this case I want them all to look different. He gets the new trait angler photographers eye*.

*Late edit; I got confused and thought it was angler since I had wanted Arthur to supermax fishing first but changed my mind on his birthday when I noticed Victor was too close to maxing the skill. Now I'll try handiness with Arthur instead but he couldn't get the handy trait yet.

Lmao. Beau certainly does deserve a dishonorable mention and so does Buster Clavell. Oh the horror... ;D. Great story!
