Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I had several different endings in mind. After Metro ate Ambrosia one option was to have the whole family get in a car, then I would have hit the special effects and they would have gone through a time warp and ended up in Bridgeport to start anew. Another option was to basically follow through with what I hinted at in the ending I chose and have Metro and Angelique walk off in the Sunset together with the reader knowing that I was going to make them young again to start their own family. My final idea was to shift the focus back on Recipe and have him experience some special effects of some kind to throw him back into a new Sunset Valley where he meets Agnes again.
The ending I did end up using came to me literally an hour before I penned it. I chose it mainly because it had humor whereas the other endings did not. The others would have been nice and might have made some of you say "awwww, how sweet" but I looking for one final smile.
I'll miss the Mans a lot. Recipe was probably my favorite. Since it all started with him I had the most time to develop his character, but all of them had their own personalities come through via the wacky dialogue. I know Crazy was a forum favorite and he was a very close 2nd for me.
