New Bug Discovered...The Consignment Store is Busted!

Like Schip, who dove back into her own Dynasty after posting a great score in Garden of Eatin’, I too wrapped up that first Tournament Challenge and now return my attention to more Manly pursuits. EeyoreWrite is fast approaching her Toddler birthday, so I thought it would be nice for Chanda to assist immortal #7 down the road and sell her future books at the Consignment Store for additional career money for EeyoreWrite. I had Chanda buy 100 Patties, 100 Roasts, and 100 Steaks. The goal was to quickly knock out some of the Consignment Store Challenges and be ready to sell the kid’s books when EeyoreWrite finally had some to sell.

Walking into the consignment store with a personalized t-shirt saying “You want raw meat?” Chanda tried to sell her beefy wares. No dice. The cue just cancelled. Something was messed up and broken. I would have allowed anyone else to delete the NPC just to see if that had an effect, so I tried that and waited for the replacement the next day. Nothing. The cue cancels. Clicking on the register or the NPC has the same result which is a big, fat goose egg.

So, given my lofty role as an Administrator for this forum I have the unfortunate responsibility to inform all of you that the perfect Consignment Store that you have been enjoying for months, may not be so perfect. There’s a remote chance — probably one in a million — that your Sim will try and sell their items in the consignment store and won’t be able to because the action will cancel.  It may even manifest itself in a different, deeper way — you might actually think you’re selling your items because you’re able to consign things, but in reality, nothing gets sold. Hahaha. Okay, I’m teasing and making that last part up. I hope that never happens because that would really be frustrating. Anyhoo, looks like I’ll need to call EA on this Consignment Store bug to keep them in the loop.

So, despite the broken Consignment Store that will undoubtedly be quickly fixed the same day that Warren Buffet and Bill Gates both declare bankruptcy, I change strategy, adapt, and press on. No Consignment Store book sales for EeyoreWrite. She’ll just have to sell them via Inventory.

EeyoreWrite aged up to Toddler and from where I’m sitting she’s looking like her mom — not that looking like Sound would be a bad thing (as opposed to looking like Crazy which is when a child would have the desire to jump off a cliff) — dark hair and the identical color eyes.

Happy birthday, EeyoreWrite. And now your work begins.

EeyoreWrite is a cutie!  I had those same problems with my Consignment Store at the end.  It worked fine for all of the Immortal Dynasty Challenge, then stopped working about a week ago.

I had the same problem in my first run-through with my Dynasty. Did you try deleting the register and placing a new one? How about deleting the lot and placing another consignment store in town?

The same thing happened to me when a 2nd member of my household tried to consign her paintings.
When I canceled all my consigned items (with the 1st sim that used the store, don't know if that's important), I could once again consign stuff.
I'm not sure if this would work for you, or if it was just a fluke, but maybe you can try that.

I think the consignment store stops working when you have made too much money off of it. It detects when your coming back and completely shuts down operation.

I had the consignment store glitch which cleared up when I cancelled some old consignments, it seemed they were not properly being mailed back to me so it stuck up the process, it worked normally afterward, so now I go back every third day with my seller, clear out anything old, and post the new ones.  Hope maybe that works

With about 5 days left of EeyoreWrite’s Toddler stage, Chanda wanted to give her young daughter a nice jumpstart on skills. She purchased the yellow (painting) and green (writing) parenting books from the bookstore and carried EeyoreWrite into the Library for quicker reading of the books. First on tap was Frank I’m Not...



Chanda: “Imagine yourself at a computer. You’re thinking of a great story to tell. You place your hands on the keyboard...”
EeyoreWrite: “Frank I’m Not.”
Chanda: “Right. Your story has many sentences, all connected with a purpose.”
EeyoreWrite: “Frank I’m Not.”
Chanda: “Exactly. You pretend you’re talking to someone. And then you just start typing.”
EeyoreWrite: “Frank I’m Not.”
Chanda: “You’ve got it. The book’s all done and now you and Frank know how to write.”

Next up was EeyoreWrite’s Child birthday. Look who the game selected to bring EeyoreWrite to the cake? Mr. Sweater Vest himself. Recipe did a great job and managed not to drop our young author on her head during the celebration. I think it’s funny that Crazy just happened to have the Stir Crazy moodlet in the photo below. Queenie did as well. I  felt it was appropriate to change the moodlet’s name...

EeyoreWrite aged up to Child and I quickly gave her some longer hair. I can’t do the boy-length hair. Call me old-fashioned. I mentioned in the last update that EeyoreWrite’s eye color was identical to Chanda’s, but forgot that Sound also has light brown eyes. One thing is for sure — she clearly just stepped out of the Bella Bachelor cloning pod. After you play Sims long enough all Sims just start to look the same. Who’s with me on that one?



Now that EeyoreWrite was a Child is was time to get her book on. Her traits at this point are: Artistic (a bonus trait for Childrens’ books), Bookworm, and Family-Oriented (another bonus trait for Childrens’ books). Her last two traits at Teen and Young Adult will be Childish (the last bonus trait) and probably Couch Potato since she’ll be sitting on her duff a great deal of time.

I scoped out EeyoreWrite’s Skill tab and was a bit confused to only see the 3 Writing skills listed and no Painting. Then, it dawned on me that it was because of the Writing skill’s Books Read stat that triggered the listing. She had not done anything with painting yet — i.e. initiated the skill at the easel. So, I had her do just that. She needed one more painting skill anyway to begin her Childrens’ Books. She completed two small paintings to gain another skill level and called her 2nd painting, “Revenge of the Gummy Bear Tree.”



Our young author immediately headed to the computer in the kitchen and began working on her very first novel, a Childrens' Book called “I Jus Lernt to Right — U Kan Two.”



By the end of EeyoreWright’s first week of school she had written 4 additional Childrens’ Books to finish the Specialist Writer Challenge. In no specific order of global importance, those books were:

• Barney’s Hip Hop Simlish Dictionary for Kids: Fo’ Shizzle Ma’ Little Simmies
• Theoretical Physics for Your Hyperactive Child
• A Young Girl’s Guide to Mastering the Toilet: Sitting Down on the Job
• A Young Boy’s Guide to Mastering the Toilet: Stand Up and Get Noticed

Next up? Sound’s Elder birthday. Wow, where has the time gone for our former Rock Star? This is the big one. For a special treat instead of the same old drab Manly Estates birthdays, I had the entire household go to a former special spot for Sound — the front of the Theatre...



Sound played for tips all day long, and then the big moment came. Quite a crowd had formed by that time which is exactly what I was hoping for...



Senile Dementia has already set in for Sound as he can’t even remember what function his hands serve. Oh, I did tell you guys about the new vampire content, right?



Upon returning to Manly Estates, Chanda lovingly shares some romantic feelings with Sound...



Chanda: “There’s the mirror, Ice Age Man. Let’s fix you up before I call for a taxi.”

Now, we’re talking. Elton John and the Fonz just had a baby and here he is...



The Elder portrait was Sound’s last Ambrosia requirement. It took Recipe a couple days before a Masterpiece popped out. Now, it’s show time...



And Sound officially becomes the 6th Man Dynasty Immortal. Way to go, Sound!
