A painting value question...
« on: October 16, 2010, 12:09:10 PM »
While painting, I know that painting large paintings adds to other large painting's values, and that painting small paintings adds to other small painting's values. However, I do not know if painting small paintings will increase the value of large paintings. Please help.

I think I know what you're asking. Generally, the more paintings (of any size) your sim has done will higher the value of future paintings (of any size) will be.

Incorrect. Assuming we're talking about a lvl 10 painter with all challenges done, then if a painter had painted 100 small sized canvases, and then switched to large size — all of the experience on small size gets tossed out the window when computing the base value of the large sized painting. Bonus experience value is specific to each canvas size.

Really? I can't believe I've never noticed this. Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks. This seems to mean that big canvasses are always better. (Going by the theory posted in the sims wiki that large paintings gain 6 for each painting, and small gain 2 for each painting.)

So Metro, what happens if you paint like 30 smalls, 30 mediums and 30 larges? I guess what I'm asking is do they hang onto the bonuses with each canvas, or when you switch sizes, do they start all over again?

No, it's not an all or nothing kind of thing. Experience is tracked no matter how often you switch around sizes.
