Glitched cow plant berry
« on: September 17, 2014, 03:50:02 AM »
I finally got a cow plant berry from completing the space exploration adventure and when I planted it in the middle of a planter box it just disappeared. There was a little bit of a change in the color of soil but nothing ever grew. It's been about a week and a half sim time and still nothing.  :(

Should I have planted it straight into the ground?

Hi Playalot, the same thing happened to me too. Worked fine when planted in the ground though.

Or you could go fishing...

Check the fishing guide to see where you can find them.

I got mine by fishing in Slyvan Glade if that helps, plus it didn't require any bait either....  :)

I read somewhere on the forum that the cowplant needs a lot of space to grow. Planting it in the planter box makes it disappear.

It's 2 squares wide and about 8 squares long, you do need a lot of space to plant it

Thanks for the tips, I've tried fishing for the berry... I just don't seem to be having much luck getting my hands on a cow plant. I guess I'll focus on something else and then I'll get one!  :P

Oh dear, the same thing happened to me. I left the game running whilst I did some chores downstairs and when I went back upstairs I had the poor skeleton cow plant. I felt really bad!

Unfortunately, I think they need to be fed a lot during the day.  I feed mine and then not long after that, I hear the silly thing make a noise and he is hungry again.  It probably wouldn't take much for it to die.  I finally had to put mine in the family inventory for a while, that noise it makes is really spooky, lol.

Just remember, your cow plant is part of your family.  You have to feed it, (a lot), pet it, and play with it.  If I just feed it, it gets hungry faster, so I treat mine like a child.  I feed, pet and play several times in the day with both my adult Sims.  There is no interaction with children.  Since I have a gardener Sim she is in the area where the cow plant is anyway so it's no biggie.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Oh, I see. I didn't realize that it would be hungry more than twice a day. I must have starved it  :-\ I think I might give them a pass for now. I kept getting nervous that my non-gardening sim would be eaten! And I have to agree with you Saltypaws, that noise <shudder>

The cow plant will only eat someone if they try to eat the cake on it's tongue.  Any adult Sim, (don't know about teens), can feed the cow plant safely and child Sims can do the play action with it.  It won't over eat so you can't stuff it and go away.  You have to feed it every few hours, (Sim hours), like any other Sim.
