Sims 3 Console Pre-Order Sales Break Record

Well gang, it looks like we're going to see a ton of more people around here real soon. Glad we've expanded the moderator team. I'm watching Twitter like a hawk these days and saw a tweet from EA's Sims 3 profile that The Sims 3 on console has broken a pre-order sales record, beating all their previous console pre-orders for the franchise. There's a nice video showing off the Consoles here. The Karma system seems interesting. You can read a summary on wikipedia. As is the trend these days, people who pre-order get a little perk, the 'get lucky' karmic action.

I know most of us are dedicated to the PC, but it looks like I'll have to buy this one myself if only to write a few guides for console players only. Of course, Late Night is getting top priority It seems there are enough differences that might attract us PC gamers to jump in on the console port. My personal perk would be the ability to Sim from bed with a wireless controller. Sounds like a good way to end a long day at the University.

I own a PS3. Can't cover Wii.. maybe someone will come out of the woodwork and pen a few of those for us But... I probably won't bother covering the DS version. If things are similar enough that people can use what we have, great...

Ha, ha, excellent: I have only a PS3 (I technically have a NDS as well, but I won't get Sims 3 on it) so if I decide to get it it will be on the console you'll cover.

Ooh, please make just a few guides for the console version of the Sims 3. I'm really planning on buying it when it comes out although I haven't pre-ordered it.  That's only because I don't know how to.

I know karma powers are a new thing, but then there's always menu stuff, item stuff, money stuff etc. which changes for balancing issues, so some differences it has to have. The question is then to what degree; but we won't know until release.

I have the Wii and plan on getting the game, so maybe I can throw in some info on that game.  I have seen the videos and it looks about the same, except with the addition of weather and karma powers.  It will look awesome on the big screen tv.

Then it wouldn't surprise me if technical issues will be different between consoles, so having people on different versions of the game could help us in that respect in any case.

That's a step in the right direction, Salty. Thanks for the offer to help. But, Carl reminded me that any kind of console Guide write-up will step need to include screenshots and that's a bit more tricky with a console system. He was telling me about a video capture card and that's when my eyes glazed over and I became sleepy.

Wow thanks for that link! I was wondering what the differences will be in the different consoles and now I have more of an idea. We have the Wii, X-Box 360, and DS but I don't know what version I will get. I am going to rent them first and see which one I like the most then decide. I may decide to just get them all. Who knows!

Hey Carl I just joined your forum.  I have yet to see a console forum.  This was the first website that popped up when I typed in "sims 3 console forum" in the search engine.  I purchased sims 3 a few days ago not knowing that there isn't actually "online" in a sense where you could walk around with other sims around the globe, a little disappointed and maybe I should of done more research before I purchased it. Single player is pretty addictive anyways I hope they make it literally online soon enough with an expansion.  I wouldn't mind uploading videos and updating you guys with info on the ps3 if I get help in exchange from other psn users.
