Career Level Resets After Quit and Rehire?
« on: September 14, 2014, 07:36:43 PM »
I've run into something and am trying to figure out if it's a glitch.

My sim, Denise, made it to the Comedian branch of the Entertainer career, then quit for a spell so that she could focus on her 'Hopeful Romantic' aspiration. She rejoined the career and the game started her at the Jokesmith level (after the branch, as Carl noted in the guide). She is now at the max level for the career. However, the game considers her Comedian (Level 6) instead of Comedian (Level 10). Her partner, Summer, is at the max level for the Secret Agent career, Diamond Agent track, and she shows as Diamond Agent (Level 10)

The issue is that I was trying for the Fabulously Wealthy aspiration, which requires that you achieve Level 8 in any career. Denise is now permanently stuck at Level 6 for Comedian. I'm wondering if this is an unforeseen issue arising from the new rehire system, which starts rehires after the branch? It seems like it's not really fair, since Denise worked through all ten levels, but only gets credit for six. Thank you for any thoughts!

When you quit a job I do not think your guaranteed the same position you left off with. You can however use the cheat code to fix this if you see the need too. Ctrl + Shift + C type in the box Testingcheats on should say Testingcheats on back in the text box. Then type in careers.promote Entertainer and it will promote them just repeat the careers.promote Entertainer until she is back to where she was. I would suggest when finished you type testingcheats off as cheats can cause your game to become buggy during certain situations. More on the cheats can be found in the guides here

Thank you for the response, justproud2b! But, that's not actually the problem. I probably didn't explain it well.

The problem is that poor Denise - who quit and rehired - is a Show Stopper, which should be Level 10 of the Comedian Career, but the game is saying that it's Level 6, as you can see in this screenshot...

Conversely, her partner Summer - who didn't quit and rehire - is a Double Diamond Agent, and the game is correctly showing that this is Level 10 of the Diamond Agent Career, as you can see in this screenshot...

It's like Denise is not getting credit for completing the career levels that took place before the career splits. So sad! I can't help but think this isn't what was intended?

I don't know if it's true in S4 but in S3 if you quit a job where you are at level 10 and then go back into that job, (rehire), you wind up having to start all over or at the least at a lower rank.
Best shot would be choose a new, different career.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
