Problem with Friezes for SimGuruJohn
« on: September 11, 2014, 05:40:17 AM »
I was having a problem with friezes on a house and tweeted SimGuruJohn.  He asked for pictures so I'm posting it here.

This is the house showing the frieze problem.

I then demolished all but the balcony and rebuilt the upstairs with only exterior walls.  The frieze worked fine.  I then added the interior rooms including the L shaped upstairs landing.  Seen here:

I then deleted the flooring over the living room for the 'open to below' look I wanted.  No issues.  Then I placed fencing on the upstairs landing.  And this is what happened:

The frieze disappeared from the upstairs living room.  I tried to reapply it and says "Nothing to Change".

I hope that's clear SimGuruJohn.

I think when you delete a floor, it no longer recognizes that space as a "room" and that may be why it is deleting the frieze?  I made a split level home by deleting the floor in a room and it will not put a frieze or spandrel there either.  Hopefully they can fix this.

I deleted the floor and the frieze stayed.  It was only when I place the fence on the upstairs landing room that the frieze disappeared.

Which fence tool are you using?  The one that places the fence on the border of a room or the individual fence piece one that you drag?

Now that you mention it, my house has an interior fence also.  Hmmm.

I applied the fence to the wall.

I wonder if it would work if you knocked the wall out and just applied the fence itself?  Regardless, I hope they can fix it.

Same result.  And when I knock out the fence so there's nothing there, it applies the frieze to the inside of that large open upstairs room.

Yikes!  That isn't right at all!

Thats exactly what happened to me. I just ignored it but it was annoying having a frieze on the inside of my hallway. I hadn't deleted any floors though.

I'm having a similar problem with room trim peaking through when I attempt to do an open rail room.

My roof is clearly in the correct position and not through the wall.

If I section it off with a wall that's 2x1, you don't see the trim but it looks ridiculous. It also never happens until I delete the flooring and/or add the railing in to create the open rail look.

I get the roof trim coming through if I use Square or Beveled on a roof piece against a wall (like over a porch).

Mine's the square and unfortunately I like the look of it so 2x1 room it is, for now.

Have you looked at it in live mode? I had some roof pushing through on a build but it disappeared once I went into live moode with my sim.

It still comes through in live mode, but only in Walls Up view.  In Walls Cutaway, it doesn't show.  I hope SimGuruJohn is still watching this.  I think I'll tweet him.
