Trash Plant Disappearance after Game Reload

I had a planter box with a normal trash plant and a perfect mushroom when I saved a quit.  Upon game restart the entire planter and its contents are gone, leaving the puddle where I watered them with tears (GF just had to eat the cow plant cake...)

Has this happened to anyone else?

Have you looked in your family inventory?

That's where I found mine, when it happened to me...

Thanks!  The plants were in my inventory, just as you said!  The weird thing is, the planter disappeared, and I cannot place another over the puddle of tears I watered the plant with...  I suspect getting sad and watering with tears is a bad idea at the moment!
