In a house with so many kids it's almost always somebody's birthday.

This time it was Darek's turn.

He's a little pudgy, but he has the athletic trait so I'm sure he won't stay that way for long.

Christy started on a portrait of DeAnne.  She thought it would be a nice addition to the dowry.

Next, it was the big day, DeAnne's birthday.  She threw a party and invited the family's closest in the alphabet.  :P

This is their Cousin's mother, Uncle Justin's ex.

The cute potential Dickenson also came.

DeAnne greeted him with a "Hey, It's my Birthday!"

Another Dickenson, man, they've got some serious noses in that family.

This guy's pretty cute, but his last name is Foote, so that just won't do.

There's also a De Los Santos family that comes to the party, but I can't figure out where they live.  Maybe they're homeless.

Yikes!  Fire!

Oh the Simanity!

Take two!

Hm, think she needs a makeover?

Eh, maybe tomorrow.

Party's over, now all that's left is to shoo out the stragglers and clean the dishes.

The next morning...

DeAnne:  And then, there was this huge fire!  Everyone was jumping around and going crazy!  It was great!
Desiree:  Uh, yeah, I was there, remember?

In case the sheep pajamas and mismatched formal attire didn't have you convinced, here's what the game gave her for everyday clothes.  Yiikes!

Ah, so much better.

"And now it's time to... TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! MUA HA HA HA HA!"

DeAnne had this itchy feeling that she was missing something.  So after a review of the households in Edit Town mode she discovered that there was another family that should go before the Dickensons.  Kind of sad, considering how cute that one guy is... but rules are rules!

So she headed over to the Chapell family to introduce herself.

There were a bunch of kids that Christy went to school with who had the last name Chapell, but they didn't show up in Edit Town mode when it was time for Christy to move, and Carroll comes before Chapell anyway so I didn't think much more about it.  I assumed they had moved from town or something.  But apparently not!

A tall drink of water answered the door, things were looking up!

His name is Darrin Chapell.

And he was kind of a jerk!

Holy trait incompatibility, Batman!

DeAnne tried to smooth things over by talking about her Birthday conflagration.

And then she pulled the ol, "Hey, it's my Birthday!" line.  Works every time.

But as soon as I let them converse naturally there were problems.  Oy vey...

Not even the crazy lady who rang the doorbell seemed to be able to lighten the mood.

DeAnne was not a quitter though.  She had an idea!  What about a joke or two?  Everyone likes jokes!

That seemed to do the trick!

Once things were smoothed over she took a break to brush up on her chess skills.

She asked to spend the night, and he agreed, as long as she slept in the guest room with the kegs of goodness knows what.

The next morning Darrin seemed to be in a better mood.  Who wouldn't be with such a lovely sight to greet them?

Hurray!  Best friends!  And a celebrity star!

Then DeAnne remembered something her mother always said, "A way to a man's heart is through his stomach."  She decided to put her Inappropriate but in a Good Way Reward to the test.

See, she knew that grilled cheese would work like a charm!  They don't call her a Genius for nothing!

Such charms wouldn't last for long though, seems like it will always be an uphill battle for these two.

That night she went home to sleep in her own bed.  She was frustrated at how things were going with Darrin.  In other words, not as quickly or smoothly as she had hoped.  Was she in for a life of marital strife?  She hoped not.

She took a job at the local school as a playground attendant.  She figured it would give her time to think about her next move.

After school she headed over to Darrin's place.  Hopefully the distance has made our two budding hearts grow fonder.

They agreed to go steady, and squished their faces together to seal the deal, it wasn't pretty, but it worked.

Since things were so rocky between them DeAnne decided to strike while the iron was hot and proposed marriage.

There was some woo'ing, and perhaps some hoo'ing.

DeAnne didn't want to give Darrin the chance to flip out and change his mind about her.  So she suggested a private ceremony.  He agreed.

Now, let's agree not to fight like that again, at least not today.

DeAnne didn't wait to do some redecorating.  This place was a nice size, but it looked like crap!

Time to make use of that dowry!

This one kind of reminded her of Darrin, but she kept that comparison to herself.

She hung the portraits right over her bed, that way she'd have something to remind her of her mother.

Here's a shot of the house, I'm thinking they should keep their family small.  Hopefully they will agree with me, we'll see.

Here's some more 'before' shots.

And After's.

For those who are wondering, Darrin has the hot headed trait, along with unlucky, slob, ambitious, and frugal.  Since he's a jerk, and wants to be rich, I think I'm going to set him up with a career in medicine.  That way he will be out of the house and out of DeAnne's hair most of the time.  Then she'll be able to concentrate on her chess tournament and any children that might come along.

Darrin does have siblings that live elsewhere, he lived alone before DeAnne moved in.  My guess?  They couldn't stand the guy and moved out to get away from him!   :D

Congrats maybe to the newlyweds? Maybe I should send DeAnne a gift of patience to help out with this marriage :)

That was neat.  Sometimes, they do get off to a rocky start, but then it seems to work itself out.  This story is coming along nicely Aria. :)

Great update.  I don't have Barnacle Bay so I love being able to see the town in such great detail through your story.

So I've decided to play this challenge all my own in the town of Riverview. Not I started with Rhoda Bagley and I'm trying to get her to marry single living guy Hal Breckenridge but where he has commitment issues, how do I marry into his family?

You have to get your sims relationship bar really really high (almost completely full) before he will accept a proposal.

Just because a Sim has Commitment Issues doesn't mean you can't marry them it just means it is more complicated and will more likely reject your sim.

Rhoda and Hal can most certainly marry, I did my first test run of this Legacy in Riverview.   ;)  It just takes a bit of work.  Their kids turn out pretty cute too!
