Replace meaning in Handiness skill
« on: September 06, 2014, 03:17:12 PM »
Hello, I'm actually not an English speaker but playing sims 3 in English version as I live in English spoken country. I have a question about 'replace' meaning in handiness skill. After my sim completed 'self cleaning upgrade" on a sink, I clicked on the sink one more time and saw this," Replace Self-Cleaning with Unbreakable" as my sim is in the level 8 of Handiness skill.  Does it mean that the sink will never go broken but still can be dirty or will never go broken and still be auto cleaning? I really get confused.
Very hard to be escaped from Sims.

It means you can only have one upgrade on this sink. So if you want to have unbreakable on your sink, you have to "replace"  the self-cleaning upgrade and have unbreakable instead.

Replace Self-Cleaning with Unbreakable means that if you go ahead with the upgrade, the sink will no longer be self-cleaning but it will be unbreakable. Unfortunately, each object can only have one upgrade installed at a time.

Hope this helps!

If you replace self cleaning with unbreakable the item will no longer break but will get dirty again.

ahhh but when I've done the both self cleaning and unbreakable, the both features worked for me. And do you know the  nectar maker upgrades? As you know there are 2 kind of upgrade as well. I did the both and looked the both features worked.

What's the difference the upgrade features in Sims 4?

The only time you can have both features working is if you do the unbreakable upgrade then repair the sink when you have the tinkerer skill challenge completed.  Otherwise you only have one upgrade, either self cleaning or unbreakable for the sink.

The nectar maker actually have 3 upgrades, flavor enhancement, improved pressing, and unbreakable.  Again you can only have one kind of upgrade.  Having both upgrades work at the same time is probably a bug.

Correction, I meant self cleaning upgrade on your sink.  And when your sink breaks, you repair it, since you have tinkerer skill challenge completed, your sink will never break after you repair it.  Hence you have 2 upgrades on your sink, self cleaning from upgrading it, and unbreakable from repairing it.

Glad we got this sort out for you.
