Fun
« on: September 05, 2014, 12:13:29 PM »
So, it looks like what constitutes as fun has changed a good deal since sims 3.  My outdoorsy sim gets stressed while gardening, for example.  The only surefire fun repairing activities I've found have been going out dancing, playing violin (child), and reading a book.

What activities have you found that get that "fun" meter up?

Interesting, my Loves Outdoors sim gets tense if he's inside for too long and loves being outside.  My only issue at the moment is puddles of water on the ground that won't dry up and seem to be causing Uncomfortable emotion do to dirty surroundings.  I might put some stone floor tiles down and see if I can then mop them up.

TV, computer games/research/surfing, and reading all increase my sim's fun. Also fishing (she's an outdoorsy botanist geek), though slowly.

My Evil Sim's fun increases while trolling online and causing mischief.  She also really loves TV and video games.

My main Sim is a Geek and actually will become Tense and eventually Uncomfortable if he hasn't played any video games for a while, and if I leave him alone for more than a few seconds without a queued action he goes straight to his computer.
He also, apparently, has a blast with the observatory and microscope and often goes to use one of those if someone else is at the CPU.

Neither of my sims are book lovers (or whatever that trait is) but they both get quite a bit of fun from reading. Also a bubble bath raises fun and you get a hygiene gain at the same time.

Sims seem to still get fun from playing chess.  Video games are also a  surefire way to raise then fun bar although it involved a trip to the library until they were able to afford a computer.  (Actually they still can't afford a computer but Writer Sim brought one home as a blessedly early career reward).  The oddest fun Gardener Sim has had involved playing in a pile of rubbish.  She gets whims to do that every once in a while.

Those piles of rubbish.  Do they suddenly appear on the floor in the house?  I've had those and one of the choices is to salvage parts.  I did this each time before she threw the rubbish away and got upgrade parts for the kitchen.  (Also get them via fishing and digging)
What?  Grannies can't play games?

You get them when repairing a broken appliance.

Man, this is really tough for me.  I have sims who have empty fun meters after gold medal dates, after parties, after doing the thing that their traits specify is their forte.  I don't know if I'm glitched or if it's just a much harder game than it was.

Try having them do fun interactions (comedy) that make socialization and fun raise at the same time.

My sims seem to get fun the same ways they always have, but it takes so long to get the fun bar up that I've gotten frustrated with it on more than one occasion. You have to keep it high or it takes forever to raise it again.

Juliette (legacy founder, garden sim) is doing great with gardening and never gets bored or tense from it.

Playing in a bathtub raises fun but you can't stay in it long enough for it to do much good.  Bubble baths have even less an impact.  Looks like my Sim will have to buy a computer since that seems to be the fastest way to raise fun.

Watching TV (action), playing computer games and doing Funny interactions with other sims seems to be the main way I will raise fun should it drop below a certain level.

Reading and computer games seems to be the best way for me to raise fun on my 2 sims. :)
