Sims 4 Building/Remodeling Thread
« on: September 04, 2014, 08:41:57 PM »
I thought we could use a thread to show off our new creations in Sims 4.

Edit by Pam:  The image limit for this thread is 10 images per post.  You are welcome to add a link that goes to more pictures, but only 10 in the actual post.  The extra images may be removed without notice.

I'm currently working on a wedding chapel.  It is mostly furnished inside, I need to do some more landscaping and place some more objects outdoors.

Full outside view (if anyone can figure out how to get a camera view that isn't this high, please let me know.  Maybe I need to switch to S3 camera?)

Interior of chapel section.  There's a piano and of course the wedding arch.

This is the party/reception section.  It has a full roof for bad weather.  Has a stereo, bar and tables.

The large fountain.  It needs a lot of landscaping.

By the way, I love that you don't have to use the moveobjects cheat to get columns on porch railings now.  Also, you can change the direction wood floors run, which I couldn't do in Sims 3 (maybe it was possible, I just never figured out how).

Looking great so far! Do you have a bathroom? I read that not enough bathroom facilities can be quite a problem at the wedding location (the museum was the problem location if memory serves me correctly). I love the little window in the roof above the front door!

Looks super! I switched to TS3 camera mode when I was remodeling my sims starter house and it has much closer viewing angles while still getting most of the building in view. If you know what I mean! That seems a rather confusing sentence.  ::)

Annika, thank you so much for reminding me about bathrooms.  I'll have to figure out how to squeeze a good sized one with multiple stalls in.

Playalot, I understood what you said!  I was looking for a head on view at ground level and I swear I could do that in Sims 3.  I'll change camera and see if I can get better photo angles.

I'll work on this more tonight and hopefully get more photos.

My first build attempt in Willow Springs on the Bargain Bend lot.

It's up on the gallery and you can search #Dellena as well as #Carlsguide to find it.  It has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a sunken living room with the downstairs being primarily open plan.  There's ample space at the back for gardening.

The value is $45,054.  This is intended for an established family.

And even with a single width stairway, I haven't run into a single pathing issue.  I'm very pleased with the game in this regard.

I started revamping one of the neighborhoods. This is the neighborhood I've been playing the most. My main household lives in the green house shown in the 2nd screenshot.

I'm loving the game so far. I like how the streets actually have curbs now...

I really like your house, Jordan.  It has a nice basic shape, but looks great.  I do love a great front porch.

So, I've updated and finished (I think) my wedding chapel.  I'll test it out tomorrow to make sure everything works.  Gotta get one of my Sims married, I think.

Front view:

Interior, with new bathrooms (his and hers).  Also, added two grills to the outside:

Semi closeup of bathroom (sorry I am not a great screenshotter!).  There are two bathrooms, each has five stalls and four sinks:

Exterior side with fountain:

If everything works ok when I test, I will upload to community and tag with #carlsguide.

I am amazed at how nice of a starter home you can build for a brand new Sim family. I have started 3 games, and I can't help it, I want to build a house on an empty lot. My Sim bother and sister had 22,000 simeoleons and I was able to build a 2 bedroom place with better than basic toilets and other appliances.

Oh and one of the lots, I'll have to check the name, in Willow Creek has a fishing hole right behind it. I had just happened to move my fisherman Sim into that lot before I knew this. Serendipity!

I've gotten the foundations for my first 'big build' done!  I call it the Great Observatory, and it's a 50x50 lot with still plenty of space to add things as new content comes in.  It's on the exchange, with the carlsguide hashtag for everyone to play with.

The hedge maze

servants quarters (or children's room!)

play area and grilling for outdoor parties

Main floor

Master bedroom and bar

My first try at building a house that isn't just a box. I love the artwork from the Creator's Guide. I decided to create this house based on the image from the guide.
I call it Di Lusso. It means luxurious. I think i paid around 20k for the bill while I had a sim test the house.  ._.

This castle is just a copy of Castle DragonKin (Mod The Sims). It looks great together with the Goth House. Dark, creepy and scary.
I'm planning on creating my own castle based on Tuscany castles. Right now, I'm still hooked at making Japanese style houses.

This is my Japanese House and Garden (Shofuso)
Has a sunken area inside the house, bath house with glass walls, minibar, breakfast area at the front porch and garden.
I'm bad at making roofs. :/ The uneven ground is also one of the reasons the roofs look awkward.
I haven't been able to upload this due to my computer acting up just 3 hours ago. Whenever my wifi in ON, Sims 4 stops loading completely (Not Responding).
But it plays okay if wifi is OFF. So yeah...no exchange for me till this is resolved. Though I have no idea what to do.

Edit:

Remodeled the roof. It looks a whole lot better than before.

Ever since I started playing Sims, (Sims2 was my first), I've been a builder.  Yet here I am struggling so hard to get it together with Sims 4.  I thought it just couldn't be done till I saw what you all have done.  You have inspired me!!  These builds you've all done are fabulous and so very creative.  Kudos one and all.  *toddles off to give a basic build a shot*

I've been playing around, seeing what I can do with dormers. This is my first attempt. This is just a shell so far and doesn't have windows all around, but it looks ok so far.

If you look really hard, you can just see Abby standing at the middle window in the right hand dormer. She is there mainly to test things and make sure they are workable.

Thanks Wicked :D I hope your sims live there and like it too.
Now i'm inspired to create another home.

The sunken area in the middle of the house was supposed to be a traditional japanese living room. But i can't find any pillows and ultra-low square table.
Also, I made use of wooden flooring instead of tatami (carpet or rugs).

Bath house

Garden area

Breakfast area

Bath room and Back room with clear view of the garden

Half-a-Bedroom. Privacy afforded only by a room divider.

Minibar with kitchenette
