Man, I cannot get this stupid debuff no matter what I do haha

like, she just writes and writes, and finishing books makes her happy and she's inspired like 99% of the time.

You wouldn't think it would be so hard.

Use 'practice writing' so she won't be finishing books?

Thanks for that suggestion :)

I have also tried practice writing...she got a ton of skill, still no moodlet.

Am concidering turning off aging, moving her out so no one bugs her and she doesn't have needs or w/e and trying again.

I suspect going to work isn't helping ether.

Yeah I am having a problem getting Writer's Block as well. I think I am intentionally going to let my writer's fun bar tank. I am thinking that has something to do with it.

For you all still having trouble, have you tried the step-by-step instructions that I posted above (and also pasted below). That method should cause "anger" to overcome any other moods. This method is all but guaranteed to work.   :)

Okay, I FINALLY did it.

1. Have any sim get good at painting.
2. Get that sim angry by performing mean actions.
3. Click on the easel and paint "angry painting."
4. Make many angry paintings.
5. Create a separate room just to put angry paintings on the walls.
6. Put five easels in that room and fill them with angry paintings also.
7. "Enable Emotional Aura" on all angry paintings, if you haven't already. (I literally have 11 angry paintings enabled in that room.)
8. Place a desk, computer, and chair in that room. **Make sure you don't use one of the chairs that inspires an emotion.
9. Have your writer sim walk into the room and "View Angry Painting."
*This is important. Just being in the room isn't enough. Viewing the painting will make the sim "very angry."
10. Make the writer sim write for hours. Keep giving him or her new things to write if they finish others.

= After about 15 hours of very angry writing, my sim achieved "Beat Writer's Block" and moved on to step 2 of the Best Selling Author Aspiration.

A lot of work just to get to step 2!  :)

I succeeded in getting write's block by making sure you keep the fun bar low.

My Sim got it after writing their second book so luckily I didn't have to worry about getting their fun low or getting them angry, haha.
I read Carl's writing guide and it says getting Writers block is pretty hard. You should try and do it early on in their writing career if possible because apparently the higher level their skill the harder it is to get Writer's Block.

I'll agree to that Manisims. My writer sim was level 6 or 7 and getting writer's block was pretty hard. I kept saving every 2 mins incase he died! Best way I've found through testing is just to bottom out the fun meter and have the sim as lonely and uncomfortable as possible then cue up a few genre's and eventually 'The Block' will hit.
In my experience I didn't have to get my sim angry or even particularly sad, just no fun, lonely, uncomfortable and tense.

How to Get Writer's Block
« Reply #25 on: September 30, 2014, 04:41:23 AM »
Hi,

I got all the way to level 10 writing skill without getting writers block but found an easy way to get it even with high skill.

Simply this let your Fun bar decay and keep writing. Just don't do anything fun till you get it.

I can get it fairly reliably if I do practice writing straight for about 6-7 hours.  I have tried it on several sims already and it has worked every single time.

Is writer's block a tense emotion?  Can a Sim still get it if they have the reward that won't allow them to become tense?

Perhaps this is how my sim overcame it without ever getting it. She had that reward. There was a strange disparity with her moodlets and her emotion though. She was happy with an inspired moodlet.
