Sims 4 Official Legacy Challenge Rules
« on: September 04, 2014, 06:00:24 PM »
Just wanted to share that Pinstar has his rules posted for the Sims 4 challenge.  He is mostly doing it on his own website, however, there is a thread on the official Sims site.
Rules link:  http://www.simslegacychallenge.com/the-sims-4-legacy-challenge-rules/
I am going to pm Carl and ask if he can create a stories/projects board for the Sims 4, so we can post those stories separate from the Sims 3 ones.

We do plan to have story boards.  It's just a little early now while we are getting the Guide articles written.  Thanks for the link to Pinstar's challenge.

Will the story forums be up soon?  I've been writing my family's story offline for now - ready to post when the forum is up.

We already have a topic/question about this, so I'm merging them.

I had no idea Pinstar had returned, I remember after the Sims 3 base game the Legacy Challenge seemed all but abandoned.

Wow, that was fast!  Interesting rules, particularly the table thing.

I like that you can choose so many different ways to sort out succession. I particularly see how someone could have fun with the inherit by might aspect :P

However, I am still a bit confused about the scoring system. If I try a legacy at this point I will probably do one without counting points, because I don't really understand how that works :)

When I did a legacy challenge in the sims 3 I got fed up with keeping score pretty quickly :P there was way too much to keep track of. So I'm oke with these set of rules for now :)

I think most of the confusion in the scoring component is that Pinstar doesn't know yet how many points he's going to give you for having lets say 100 Potions of Youth at the end of the challenge.  Many of his categories are going to be based on how much of something you have.  ex. 100 potions would be equal to 3 points.  Until he has enough time to see how many are doable he isn't going to release the "tables" that say how many points you get.  So, therefore, you just do the challenge with the goal of getting as many things as possible.

It'll be interesting to see how the points system for the legacy will end up. Not only for Pinstar's legacy but to learn or potential ideas for challenges that may show up here as well. I'd love to do a challenge, but keeping track of points is just not that appealing to me. I might give it a try, though, and give the founder some very .. unique .. physical characteristics.

I don't think they're really the same, one is about the legacy challenge by Pinstar (which does not imply there will be a story) whereas one is about a story board (which is not limited to legacy challenges).

I apologized, I'm new and still learning.  I will do better as I get more experience in identifying, separating, and merging topics.

Maybe people could post their stories on the Sims 3 board for now?

Assuming Carl, Pam and the mod team are happy with that, of course, because it does mean more work moving topics once the new forum opens.
