Sims keep being added to my household without me doing anything!!
« on: September 03, 2014, 09:24:06 PM »
I just started a new game in Sunset Valley and found this really cute rowhouse apartment that I downloaded from I think The Sims Resource that I remodeled and put my sims in. However what's weird is that everytime it gets to be bedtime for my sims(about 1 am sims time). I'll see two green boxes appear in the corner and it's two new sims being added to my household and I'm not doing anything! Technically I could play them if I chose to but I have just been deleting them. After I delete them, nothing will happen again until the same time the next Sims day.

The roommate service thing isn't even an option for my sims so I know it's not that. The other two units in the apartments have the hidden room markers so everything should be okay there. How are sims being added without me doing it and what do I do to stop it? Has this happened to anyone before?

The only time I had something even slightly similar, it was room mate services...

Backup your save file and move your household to another house and see if it still happens. If it doesn't, then it must be an issue with the lot itself.

My first thought was room mate services but when I go into real estate from my sims phone or computer, the roommates option doesn't even show up.

I hate to move my sims again after I spent so much time on their place but I think you gave the best solution I'm going to find.

Thank you!!

 Hi ShiningStar,

In my game, I've got roommate services. However, I may have an idea that's worth a try. Check to see if your home lot is a regular residential lot or not. I guess in one of the newer patches they made it to where you can pick lot types before building. And to get the roommate services feature, you need to build on a regular residential lot. -- Please don't quote me on this, as I've only read about it in passing.

There is this topic where they talk more about Roommates and related things. So you might be able to find more tips there.

A couple of tips come to mind that might help -

If you're wanting to get rid of the roomates you already have, click on the sim person and click dismiss.

Patch 1.50. is when they patched in Roommates. Having a roommate in a normal household, an easy way to get them to move out is to call up the Move option on the telephone.  A warning appears that all roommates will leave the household if you continue.  Hit yes to go into the real estate town screen, then back out.  Your family stays put, but the roommate(s) leave the home.

Another way of keeping them from moving into your house, if you don't have the option to disable roommates, is to delete the extra beds in your household's home. Or lock the doors to allow family only.

I hope this helps, :)
