Need Help with Work and Furniture
« on: September 02, 2014, 02:24:32 PM »
I'm having problems with two things that aren't working the same as the sims 3.

1.  How do I send my sim to work?  It is less than an hour until she starts and no one has shown up to pick her up.  When I clicked on career info it did not show a "go to work" icon either.  She's in the painting career.

2.  How to I turn furniture?  I tried holding down both the right and the left mouse buttons as I was moving it and neither of them worked.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Jen

When work starts, your Sim will leave the lot on their own. Don't worry about it.

Use the , and . keys to turn furniture before placing it.

Do they actually leave to do the painting career?

If you're using the default camera control you can right click to rotate furniture as well.

They do. Careers are interesting. They have full work-days off-lot (8 or 9 hours, but that does include commuting), but they also have things they do at home to improve performance. My painter Sim was expected to level up her painting skill on her own time, for example.

Being a geek myself, I started my sim on a tech career.  He has to do programming/gaming on his computer in his off-hours to make career progress :)

If your sim doesn't go to work at the right time due to events, you can go into the work panel and click on the desk icon, it should say 'go to work' if your sim is a little late and it will queue your sim for work.  I've had to do that when one sim was off lot and I was controlling another sim at the house, I noticed the off lot sim hadn't gone to work, so I called her home and then manually sent her.
We hobbits are plain, quiet creatures. Adventures make one late for dinner.

I'm moving this to the Sims 4 Miscellaneous Help board.

According to the tutorial, (Which i stupidly didn't bother to look through) the < and > are supposed to be able to rotate objects. I'm using the Sims 3 default camera mode but that works for me.
