For Legacy players in the early stages, skill levelling and sim care is actually cost effective if you leave that sim at home. You don't have to pay for meals, drinks canvasses for your efforts, they eat for free, and even gain motives that you don't have objects for eg: hygiene even if they don't have a shower. I think you do still need skilling objects and at least 1 point in a skill for it to be an option to level it though.

Quick Consumption Moodlet
Drinks take 4 sips to finish. The final sip grants the moodlet. So you can, during your free time, make your sim take 3 sips out of the drink then cancel and keep the drinks, and only make them drink the final sip right before work or when you need the moodlet it grants. You can do the same for food.

Especially after parties you will collect a large amount of half drank/eaten drinks/food from those attention deficit guests. Kinda gross, but the sims they dont care.  :P

Also useful when you are trying to keep your sims from gaining weight.

Fast Drinking
This is a tips shared by billythegreat if not mistaken, I think it is a great tip so here goes. When unmanaged, it takes a sim hour for the sim to finish the drinking. After the sim takes the first sip from the cup, queue up several view object actions. While the sim is viewing, slowly cancel the view actions, the sim should take the next sip sooner. With your micromanagement, it takes only 20~30 sim minutes to finish a cup of drinks.

I really love this trick and use it quite often myself.

Dealing with the neighbourhood stalkers.

1. Treat him like any other unannounced/uninvited guest - invite him in if you want company, ignore him if you don't.
2. If you have invited him in and "ask to leave" gives a negative relationship hit, go to Friendly - Say Goodbye. He may not leave, but he will stop interacting, leaving you able to get ready for work.
3. Travel With -  heading to the gym/park/library anyway? Select "Travel with -" and ditch him like a bad prom date when you arrive.

Cheers,
Dante

Careful about queuing up cooking with fresh ingredients.  Canceling it before you start will give you the money back, but won't give you the ingredients back.  This is especially annoying with the dishes that use fish.

If you hover your mouse over the baby name section when your sim gives birth, you a name randomiser comes up on the left hand side!

I discovered today that when an aspiration or job requires you to do something with "neighbors," it means sims actually in your 5-house neighborhood. My sim had to be despised by 2 neighbors, and someone in a different section of Willow Creek didn't count.

Sorry to double post, but I discovered recently that if you use "X" to zoom out as far as possible, you get a bird's-eye view of your neighborhood. You can then move the camera around to find dig sites and plants. You won't be able to leave the neighborhood, but if you want to go and check out another neighborhood, you can use "M" to go to one of the houses and then do the same thing.

If your teen gets an A in high school, he or she starts at level 3 of a career; a B student starts at level 2 (at least that was the case for my twins).

Yes, my son started Secret Agent at level 3 because of his A in High School. I was really surprised!

You can do a Date in the home lot. Eventually, the option comes up to Woohoo with the date.

Parents with the vicarious trait cannot learn the wellness skill via their kids.

Reaping skill shows up from time to time as a gift from the reaper (still figuring out how exactly it shows up).

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet but when you go for the Black Widow achievement and the ghost of a deceased partner shows up and doesn't leave your lot, add them to the family and then have them click on their own grave to send them back to the neverworld.. it stops them from returning to sabotage your chances at outliving your spouses for the achievement.

Not sure if anyone knows this, but if gabled and half gabled roofs are big enough they can be used as rooms.
