I think you will find the chest Esther is referring to is one of the chests you can buy at the general store while on vacation. They are excellent for storing harvestables that you don't want in your inventory, but don't want to put in the fridge.

To be back on topic: this is a nice cheat you've find here. Have you already thought on mailing Carl about it? I believe it really adds something to the cheat list of the guide.
I haven't tried it myself yet but I asume it work for me too, as so many people are having success here.

You can get an unlimited number of these fridges: Get level 10, quit, rejoin at level 9, grab the fridge at level ten again. Rinse and repeat.

 If you quit the cooking career, and rejoin, your Sim will revert back to level 9 of the cooking career. Taht is the way to do it without cheats.

If I would do it that way I would go straight directly to level 10 again.

@n8thegr8: I've never succeeded in rejoyning at level 9 again without cheating. Did you do something special?

Hmmm.... Quite odd. I have always rejoined at level 9. Anyways, I do not know why having 2 Minus Kelvins is necessary, as there is infinite storage.

I use one to put in the first room a sim enter when he enters and leaves the house. Than the sim has the nice moodlet everytimes he leaves the house.
