Deleting CC and cache files?
« on: August 26, 2014, 08:36:18 PM »
My game is slowing down, and I was wondering whether too much CC causes this. Also, when deleting cache files, which I heard quickens the game, which files are safe to delete? Is it safe to delete the DCBackup file? Will it delete all my installed CC?

CC does cause slow games. If you really want more speed uninstall the stuff you don't use. You can delete everything in dcbackup except for ccmerged.package

Hi Seraphina,

Just like Lisa said, yes a large amount of cc can slow down and may even make your game unplayable. And you can delete everything except for the ccmerged.package file in the DCBackup folder. But do not delete the folder itself.

Here are some more tips that may help speed up your game -

Here's a link to the Clean Up Your Game thread. http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,463.0.html

Also if you open the Launcher a lot to install content, it creates .tmp files of all your .dbc files (essentially copies of the files there.) Which is doubling the files in the DDCache folder and can be quite a big amount if you have a lot of stuff... So in your DCCache folder, if you have anything that says .tmp at the end of the file, it is safe to delete as well.
