Alright, so I deleted all of my cc because it was causing my game to glitch really badly, but now I want safer cc. I'm going to try content from The Sims 3 Blog, but I'm not sure how to get it into my game. It's your basic downloaded file, so where am I supposed to put it to get it into my game. Thanks.

If it is a sims3pack, put it in your downloads folder and install it from the launcher or by double-clicking. If it is a .package file, put it in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages. If any of them are default overrides, put them in the Mods/Overrides folder.

Okay this must be a really stupid question but how can you tell whether it's a sims3pack, .package file or default override?

If you enable file extensions for that folder you can see by the name of the file. Otherwise, Sims3pack files should already have a Sims icon next to them. Without an associated program, .package files only have a little paper icon next to them I think.

Enable file extensions? I'm so sorry for the trouble, I'm just terrible at all of this, it seems.

Hmm I can't find where to enable file extensions right now, and I'm on my way out the door, but you can arrange the files in a folder under view-> details. It will show you the file type in the table.
