Saved game lost
« on: August 18, 2014, 03:12:22 PM »
Ok! So basically my legacy file had been REALLY buggy. I ignored it and lived through it. But, a few days ago whenever I went into that specific saved file the loading bar would fill up and then sims 3 would quit and my computer would give me a pop-up that sims 3 had quit and they would notify me with a solution. BUT whenever I went into any other saved files it would be fine. SO I decided to go into the sims 3 folder on my computer- and I looked for the file that said "Legacy Cross" THEN I saw a file underneath it that said "Legacy cross backup" and note that I am not good with computers. I changed the backup file (that was only 1 minute behind the original file) name to Sims 3. I then went into my game to discover the only game that was missing was my legacy file. SO I got out of the menu and went BACK to the folder. I changed the name back and then I had to leave to do something. I came back and went in game and my file wasn't there. Is it gone forever? Or is there still a chance that I can continue my story? Thank you to all you techy people out there!

Okay, just to check, you changed the name to Legacy Cross.sims3 instead of Legacy Cross.sims3.backup?

The .sims3 is important. It can't just be spaces.

I just looked back at my files, and turns out that I put backup in there  ::) Thank you so much! My saved file is back and I just entered the game and played for a little bit. Thank you! Now I don't have to send my story to the graveyard. Thanks again!

No problem!

Now, just my opinion... make a copy of that folder now it's working and put it somewhere else!

Better to lose a few days of progress than lose everything. :)
