Game running really slow

I haven't played Sims in months because it's painful to just sit there for 15 minutes while it loads and watch my sims just freeze and move just not smoothly. I researched and have all the system requirements, deleted all the bad CC, deleted everything in the backup folder, and deleted all screenshots. I don't know what else to do.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make my game run more smoothly?

What are your specs like and what EP's/SP's do you have?

Generic advice I can think of straight off the top of my head.

Lower your resolution.
Turn off reflections.
Lower shadow quality.
Drop "high detail lots" to 1.
Make sure any form of Anti-Aliasing is turned off.

You can do all of the above in the game options. If you need pointers, let me know and I'll take screenshots.

Reduce your sim's inventory. I especially have trouble with scrap.

^ This is also a good tip that I completely forgot about.

I find moving stuff to family inventory when it can't be stored in the house works well.

Look at the maintainance thread. There are loads of good tips there. You could try a factory reset, but follow the instructions as you could accidentally delete your files.
