Should I get Sims 3 for PC
« on: July 15, 2014, 06:59:01 PM »
So I have sims 3 for console but it gets boring and I watch people like Alfiegames and lifesimmer play sims 3 on PC. Now I really want to get it for PC, but I'm afraid that it'll make my computer slower. Should I get it? And what are the recommended Expansion Packs?

I made the switch from console to PC a few months back and I'm so glad I did. So many more options and things to do. But if I were you I would just wait a little while for the sims 4.

Yes, yes you should!

Admittedly Sims 4 is out soon, but there will be a LOT more you can do with Sims 3 vs Sims 4... at least until they get a few expansion packs out the door. :)

It really depends on how much you really like playing the game. However, with the summer sale going on I'd say if you're thinking about it, the timing may be right to at least look into getting it and it's expansions and stuff packs.

We really can't offer suggestions as to what eps and sps to get as that's a personal choice for you to make depending on what your likes are and your game play style is.

I'm one of the players that says a definite Yes to getting Sims 3. Specially if you can get it on a Steam sale. I've seen it as low as $5 per pack. That's a steal of a deal!! You can redeem your Steam keys in Origin fairly easily. See the post linked below for more details:

Yes, I'll admit, I won't be switching to the sims 4 for a while because I haven't done nearly everything I can do on the sims 3 yet. However, I do feel I'm behind because everyone has been playing the sims 3 for years. And, I'll continue to be behind because I'll wait until I'm bored of the sims 3 before making the switch, otherwise I will have wasted money on all the games I've purchased recently. If I was just now getting the game I would wait for the sims 4 and be on the same page as most players, rather than behind.

But you're right, it will take time for the EP's of the sims 4 and those are what add a lot of fun to the game.

With the sale on, I think grabbing sims 3 and a couple of expansions (personal preference: Supernatural, Generations or Pets and probably University Life or World Adventures) is the best bang for buck vs pre-ordering Sims 4.

You'll get a lot more enjoyment for your cash. Of course, that is entirely my personal opinion. :)

I'm going to move this to the General Discussion board.  The Babble Board is for things that are not related to Sims 3.

Is the 70s, 80s, 90s stuff pack worth it?

I personally don't think so. I haven't used much from it, but I hate having incomplete collections.

I even got the Katy Perry one despite the fact I don't really like anything in it because my local shop were selling it for £5 brand new.

As MrsFlynn mentioned above, we can't really give recommendations on expansion or stuff packs.  Everyone wants different things from the game and has different opinions.  If you wish to continue discussing whether you should get Sims 3 on PC, that's fine, but if you want information about the expansions and stuff packs, please consult Carl's Guide or browse the Forum to research which you would like.
