Steam vs Origin

So far, all of my Sims games and EPs are from Steam. I want to take advantage of the Origin sale to complete my collection, but I'm worried they won't play well together.
Does anyone know about this, or does anyone have games & EPs mixed from Origin and Steam and can provide any insight?

The two do not play well together, but if your games are registered on TheSims3.com, they should also be in your Origin account.
