Car trouble

In my newest game, I have a family where the mother just will not use the car I assign her. She's working up the culinary track while gardening and going to the consignment store for the rest of the family. If I click on her car and tell her to go, she takes the taxi. If I click on an opportunity or a lot, she takes the taxi.

I evicted the family, and she did use the car once. Next day, back to the taxi. They're currently vacationing in China and she uses the car without fail. My significant other thinks maybe it's her harvester. He moved in a gardening Sim with his family and after using the harvester, she also quit using her car. Anyone seen anything like this?

Have you tried designating the car as her preferred vehicle?

Merrier, have you tried to place her car in her personal inventory?  When the car is in their personal inventory, they will always use it over taking a cab.

I do have it as her preferred vehicle, but I haven't tried putting it in her inventory. I'll give that a shot tonight.

Also, get rid of any Special Seeds you might have in your inventory.

You can use it if you can get it there.  That's the tricky part.  I have found that if I make my travel planes away from my home lot with the car in inventory (like from the park), the car will travel with me and be available in China.  If I do it from home, the car stays behind, even if it's in my inventory at the time.

An update (my China trip turned out to be longer than I expected).

Before I left China, I decided to use the harvester on some rocks to see if the car hater's perfect string of car use there would change. She used the car to get to the harvest spot. She used the harvester on the rock. I sent her back to their vacation house, and sure enough, she called up the bicycle. Blah.

After the family returned home I've not used the harvester. She's using her car without fail. My next test is going to be making her a new harvester and see if maybe that will fix it.
